I love trying new matcha places. I don’t live here and saw blue door online and thought I’d try it. I asked the young lady working a couple questions about the matcha flavors and her service was TERRIBLE. She was very short and unhelpful . Seemingly aggravated that I was asking questions so my family and I eventually just walked out. Matcha is way too popular of a drink and it’s not a cheap drink to support bad service in order to get it. Please advise employees on how to better service ALL customers. I unfortunately would not recommend this place to anyone.
Expensive drinks & food compared to other local spots— understandable considering it’s the Waterway. Uncomfortable seating and poor employee service, takes a while to get a drip coffee. In order to use the wifi you need to purchase something and it has a 3 hour limit. Kolache is like $8 and the largest size black coffee was a little smaller than a McDonalds small coffee and it was $4. Biggest PROS are the vibrant location and the aesthetic inside which is great for photos.
My favorite coffee shop in The Woodlands! Lots of yummy gluten-free options for pastries and the best matcha in the area. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting with a lot or regulars and entrepreneurs working from the space each morning.
I like the coffee here but it’s a little bit overpriced ($6+ for a muffin?). I thought it was a good place to come and do work as long as you have good noise cancelling headphones, but beware of the wifi. You get booted off their network after a certain amount of time and aren’t able to get back on, even if you make more purchases. I’ve never encountered a coffee shop with this sort of system. If I’m coming to do work at a coffee shop for a while, I make sure to make multiple purchases so I’m not taking up space without spending money, and I’m happy to do that. However, I wouldn’t have made additional purchases if I knew I’d be kicked off their wifi and have to leave anyway. Coffee shops are slim pickings in the woodlands, so I’ll probably come back just because there are not many other options, but just be aware if you were planning on bringing your laptop to do work at an otherwise decent coffee shop for a while.
Editing after seeing owner’s response to negative feedback in reviews. It’s disappointing to see a business throw away customer service because they want to be petty and rude to paying customers. I guess it’s consistent with some of the way that workers seemed legitimately annoyed at customers when I went. Not sure why you’re running a business if you hate people who are trying to give you their money. Can only hope more coffee shops open up in the woodlands to compete with this one. For now, might I recommend checking out Conduit Coffee, where the staff has always been super nice and welcoming to everyone who comes in.
I absolutely loved this place!
I get a latte with 3 shots of espresso, honey and cinnamon. Although its a simple order, it was absolutely so delicious here and made with so much love (and I've gone to places where it was not!).
The two girls working today were so nice :) Cant wait to be back ❤️
Good day to anyone reading.
I want to give an honest and fair review.
•Staff: 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
•Food/Beverage: 1 star
I arrived to The Woodlands, traveling for work. Yesterday I stopped by the café which let’s admit it, is in an ideal location.
Unfortunately, the quality did not complement the inviting scenery.
The image you see (for a sandwich and cappuccino) was $17!!
-Croissant sandwich was missing the Turkey sausage. The ladies were so nice to fix my order after the error (There were 2 young ladies and 1 young man working the front). I felt bad that the young man made this mistake because he appeared to be trying to keep up.
After I received my corrected sandwich; the Turkey patty was cold…It was unappetizing so I discreetly asked the barista to warm up the sandwich. She was apologetic for the error and corrected it.
-Cappuccino: Tasted as if the ratio was off. Barely taste the espresso and tasted more almond milk. The bit of lavender was a wonderful touch, but coming from living in Houston where we have VIRAL, Award Winning coffee shops, this place (Blue Door) deserves to STEP UP BIG TIME! I think the staff members deserve high-quality training with some of our reputable baristas in Houston. (I would be more than happy to bridge this network if the owners are open to this). DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a barista but I know GREAT QUALITY COFFEE and small business operations.
It is disheartening to know that this business has lovely staff, atmosphere, but the QUALITY is below average. The image you see below cost $17…$17 for TWO subpar items.🤯
Croissant-wich (egg, cheese, Turkey sausage) $10.50. NOT FRESH!! No SIDE! The price is absurd…Remember, THE QUALITY of your business DESERVES to MATCH the PERCEIVED VALUE! Otherwise, people like me will catch on.
Cappuccino (almond milk & lavender)
$5.70 + tax =
Total: $17 (does not include digital tip) *I tipped cash*
I may stop by for a pastry, but I don’t feel comfortable spending $$ for dishes or another brew ☕️
This is a coffee shop I have frequented for the last 4 years. Today my wife and I went for coffee and some food, we were greeted by the staff working behind the counter, they were friendly as usual and the place was full. We got a table outside less a chair, after I paid I asked if I could use an indoor chair and return it when I was done. A different very unpleasant women walked up and said no they don't allow this. I responded that I had been allowed to do this in the past and she flat out said no. Not wanting to argue my wife and I proceeded to eat our food and drink our coffee while I stood, this same lady walked by me as she was leaving and it seemed comical to her that I was having to stand while trying to enjoy my coffee and food. Normally I would have not been bothered but this cynical lady seemed to get some twisted pleasure seeing me stand. As we were leaving the table beside us brought two chairs from inside and no one said anything to them. I called to share my experience with the owner to find out that the rude women was a part owner. Its nice to know when your business is appreciated and obviously ours is not.
I came by for a coffee break and was looking forward to working here while sipping my ordered coffee, but their wifi connection needed to be fixed. I couldn't log in or get connected after almost an hour of trying. I was not the only one having this issue, as the couple next to me was attempting to get connected as well to do their schoolwork.
On another note, the service from the staff is welcoming, fast and efficient. The coffee shop has plenty of sitting areas for students or casual guests. The coffee was delicious! I enjoyed my cuppa for sure. It would have been a better experience if their wifi had worked.
P.S. You can find this coffee shop by looking for a blue door! Lol, as its name suggested.
This is such a cute little coffee place! I’m from out of town but wish I lived closer because it has great vibes for studying or working, and I’d hang out here all day
The layout is really amazing. There are multiple semi-private areas as well as the main public area. You can hang out on the couches/chairs to read and relax or sit at a table to work on your laptop or hold a meeting.
The employees are very friendly and professional. I don't think I've been called "sir" so many times in just a few hours. They deliver your coffee to you wherever you are so you don't even have to get up to get it.
The only bad thing about the place is the lack of close free parking for those who are handicapped. There is valet parking available due to close restaurants and some street parking but not directly in front of the cafe.
I'll definitely be back!
I’ve been working out of coffee shops for 10 years now and all over the world. I’ve been to 500+ different ones.
So when I say this place has the best coffee (so damn good) and environment to work in the north Houston area…
I mean it!
Cute coffee shop with good options. Lots of people working which was good because there was a lot of foot traffic. Service was okay, not overly friendly. Lemon bars were great!
Best cappuccino in the city! So friendly. Chill. Cube vibes. Ideal for working too
I’m not sure why this place only has 4.3 stars, it’s amazing!! I come here every two days so I feel that I can give a trusted review. You need to order the right things— breakfast tacos are hot, made to order, delicious with homemade tomatillo salsa. The matcha is LEGITIMATE matcha, the only one I’ve been able to find in this area and they know how to make it consistently well. Lattes are great and they always have fun flavors like “dreamsicle”. The staff are all amazing and sweet. You can use Clover App to place online orders and they are super quick when I pick up to go. The little energy bites are also so yummy and homemade. Free wifi, plugs for laptop, clean bathrooms, and water dispenser for guests. They’re also open super early for those of us that work or need coffee bright and early!! ☕️ 🍵
Recently discovered this little café. Decided to take my laptop & due some work. Between 9:00 am - 10:00 am the place is packed! However, the staff was quick to serve. Friendly environment, the overall aesthetic of place was very welcoming, clean & simple. I would recommend a cold brew drink with a piece of Lemon Raspberry Bouchée. The sweetness of the Bouchée and the Cold Brew Coffee is an excellent mix. Highly recommend this place!
I love coming to Blue Door in The Woodlands, been going for years…it’s my relaxing place BUT today was not so much thanks to Riley.
I’m working on a project requiring me to use two tables, so I’m sitting in a corner and she walks up to me asking if I needed both tables, mind you I have been here about 20 minutes and next to me is a young man sitting at a single table by himself but really close to a vacant table. I mentioned politely what I have going on with my laptop and I mentioned maybe this gentleman can move his table to free up the empty table next to him? It’s a four seater table.
She looked at him, looked at me, proceeded to roll her eyes as she walked away. She walked straight up to the counter, told the young lady behind the counter something, she turned around to look at me.
Sadly for Riley, she made a easy fix situation into an unpleasant visit for me today.
If you need to work at a place that has access to wifi and decent seating this would be the place. It is. Clean and the staff is generally friendly.
Super disappointed with my most recent experience at Blue Door. My family and I have been frequenting this new gem multiple times a week since they have opened. Tonight, we were having coffee and doing some computer work like we always do—starving out of her mind, my aunt ran over to Churrascos and bought a salad while we continued working/sipping our coffee. Being that their kitchen closed at 3pm. When she returned to her seat with the SINGLE salad, one of the employees notified her that it was not permitted in their shop. It legitimately stunned us. So we politely acknowledged him, cleaned our table, and left the shop. By no means were we bringing in a full course meal, our own drinks, and such—that’s understandably disrespectful of that particular place of business. It was 6:30 at night, extremely slow, and we had already been there for approximately 2 hours, ordering drinks. Great atmosphere; just super disappointed with the embarrassment we were faced with tonight. If there are a set of guidelines for your coffee shop, please post them on the door or wall. I did not mean to offend or disrespect blue door’s place of business tonight. I truly hope the next time I decide to return to Blue Door that their customer service has bettered.
Great coffee! Great banana bread (“Nana’s”), but order it warmed up. Great and very friendly personnel! Fast wifi even at busy lunch time. They should probably rename it into “Blue Door to Coffee Heaven” :-)
Valet parking right in front (for $7), I haven’t noticed him and used garage parking five minutes walk for $6. Don’t repeat my mistake. Go get coffee while the guy takes care of your car.
I really loved this place and enjoyed their coffee until yesterday. First of all, the quality of coffee became very average. It seems like they have new team of baristas (all girls) who is still learning. Second, the prices went up. In pretty significant and not reasonable way. And finally, they allow people to make kind of table self-reservations. We couldn’t find place to seat with our meal and took the empty table with someone’s laptop on it (table for 4!). This table was not occupied for 20 minutes but after we started our meal the lady showed up and told it’s her (!!!) table. We continue to eat however in 10 minutes her friend appeared and they started to push us out. Such a ridiculous situation. And no reaction from shop stuff. Such a bad feeling after visiting!
Very nice cafe in the heart of the waterway district. It has USB outlets and free wifi being the only place I've found with these items on the waterway. Wish it had more spaces to lock up a bike but that's a woodlands problem and not the cafe's. The staff is super friendly and inviting adding to the amazing atmosphere of the cafe. While I haven't tried the coffee and drinks there myself I still think its a very nice place to stop and buy something like a water or a t shirt and relax for a bit.
Coffee and service were both stellar. There's plenty of comfortable seating available for working, and the baristas were all attentive. The food options were also perfect for a working lunch, making Blue Door a great place to frequent for a few productive hours.
THIS REVIEW IS CUSTOMER SERVICE RELATED ONLY.
My family and I were excited to try this place as it was very highly rated. We arrived approximately 40 minutes before closing time. The place was about half full. We deliberated for about 10 minutes on our order making eye contact with the man working behind the counter many times (and another employee). When we had decided our order, we stepped up and were told very matter of factly “kitchen is down, we’re closed”. It was NOT closing time and he offered no other options either. He didn’t apologize, no smile, just very cold and inconsiderate.
We exited very disappointed and frustrated that we didn’t get to try out anything at this highly reviewed cafe but even more disappointed in the lack of quality customer service.
Coffee is great, chocolate croissant was a little underdone and pretty small. It tasted like it was underproofed. The wifi is extremely frustrating, we came here to work and you have to sign in through Facebook. To approve to login you have to go to the Facebook app which in turn shuts you out of the wifi registration process. I tried several times and even approved the login remotely and it wouldn’t work.
Super cute coffee place to come and do work or hangout. I love getting out of the home and working in their little cubbies with an iced coffee and jalepeno sausage kolache!
I am very disappointed in not only the quality of the food I received, but also the service from the barristas and the amount of time it took for them to prepare my order. I’ll start off by saying, the drinks look just as good as the images they post on social media. I ordered a matcha latte and I was quite impressed with how gorgeous the drink looked when I received it. However, after having the first sip of the latte I was displeased with the extreme bitter taste of the matcha and it took more than 3 packs of sweeteners to make the drink bearable enough to swallow. I just ended up not drinking it.
Also, I ordered a breakfast sandwich that was wrapped twice in aluminum foil, which ended up getting stuck to the sides of the sandwich and I had to spend an absurd amount of time picking out pieces of foil from my food. Aside from that, I couldn’t even really enjoy my food because the bread was so hard, even the knife I used to cut it in half could barely make it through the edges.
At this point, you’d probably think I’d ask for them to redo my order or at least give me a refund. I figured it would just be a waste of time, because it honestly looked like the people that worked there didn’t know what was going on, they were distracted most of the time even while they were taking my order, and they weren’t even sure if the food I received was even mine , they just kinda handed it to me like “I think this ones yours.” I’d expect them to at least put a note on it with the order, no one should have to guess people’s order when you’re working at a food establishment. I also couldn’t help but notice that customers after me had received their order before I did, which further highlights the disorganization of the staff at this cafe.
I honestly don’t recommend this place at all. It’s a waste of time and especially money. Go to Starbucks instead.
Yesterday I came to the coffee shop because the ambulance and internet. I had issue using the shop's wifi and was worried that that I may not be able to do my work. Fortunately Carly helped me by using her personal wifi and offered above and beyond customer service. Thank you Carly. Overall, I appreciate who worked yesterday when I came at 1pm
Good coffee! I always judge a coffee shop by their macchiato and cortado. They were both excellent! But the girl working the register was a grumpy teen who would rather be on her phone. The barista, however was not only guys at her job, but was also a bright, shiny person. Who doesn't like happy people who are good at what they do?
I try to support local whenever possible but should have gone to Starbucks today. Their sign outside says thank you for keeping our staff safe in regard to wearing masks. Well the thin hipster guy working didn’t bother to wear his mask to keep the customers safe. Having it around your neck doesn’t count as wearing it bro.
They should make granola for their yogurt.
The girly that was working today 6/16 around lunch time needs some help making drinks.... It took way to long, but we're delicious. That machine pools 2-4 shots at once right? Get this girl on track to make two drinks at one time, she can do it I believe in her.
Panini was delicious.
Today was my first time here. Nice spot to have coffee/breakfast while glued to your work laptop. Definitely plan on returning.
Really lovely place to work and get a delicious coffee. Lots of desk space and fast wifi.
They make a solid latte here and have great baked goods. Well lit atmosphere for working remotely. Street parking is a bit of a pain here though.
A perfect place to study and their food and drinks are so pretty :) My new go to. The wifi doesn't work for me though so I had to use xfinity :( but still a great place!
Good coffee, but ridiculous that the wifi is only able to used for 2 hours without making a second purchase. Never been to any other coffee shop that does this. 👎🏼
Great drinks, comfy atmosphere, but the people working there were what made it 5 Stars.
Overall good coffee, but the wifi times out after two hours and won’t let you back in for another 12 hours so if you plan on studying longer go somewhere else :(
Friendly service, and comfortable atmosphere for working or grabbing coffee with a friend. Would highly recommend trying the cappuccino, and grabbing a breakfast burrito!
The Baristas are always sweet and accommodating. Be warned, it’s busy windows are BUSY but they are always working their hardest and it is always worth it. If you want a quiet spot visit during their slower periods. The wait/line has never felt like an issue even when crowded.
For pastries there are lots of gluten free options that are very clearly labeled and they seem to have a rotation. Big plus for when I wanted to bring my friend with a gluten intolerance.
I had a very frustrating experience at Blue Door Coffee.
The Wi-Fi was not working, so I asked the woman working there, whom I believe was one of the owners, Tamara, for help. I was initially told that the Wi-Fi “doesn’t work with iPhones” and that I should use a computer instead.
So I took out my laptop and tried again. It still didn’t work.
When I went back and asked why it also wasn’t working on my computer, the explanation changed. I was then told that the Wi-Fi simply wasn’t working. Eventually, I was given another explanation involving the Wi-Fi being connected to the POS system.
Technical problems happen. That is not what bothered me.
What bothered me was being given several different explanations instead of simply being told from the beginning: “Sorry, our Wi-Fi is currently down.”
For a coffee shop where customers commonly bring laptops and expect to work, reliable Wi-Fi matters. But even more basic than that is straightforward communication with customers.
If the Wi-Fi is down, just say so. I would have understood. Being sent through a series of contradictory explanations made the experience unnecessarily frustrating and seriously undermined my confidence in the service.
I’d rate the experience poorly not because the internet happened to fail, but because of how the situation was handled.
