Spotty wifi madness this place sometimes impossible to be productive

Great vibe. Good wifi. In town for a conference and this was a great respite at days end. Super friendly counter staff too

One of my favorite coffee shops but that wifi never works so I don’t go as often anymore 😭

working from home can be very mundane so I started searching places that can be another alternative to my workspace environment.

Brass Tacks popped up, and the photos really did it for me. It made it a top pick for me to visit.

The place is very industrial with lots of tables and outlets readily available. There's individual study carrels, some with outlets and some without. Its such a great reading nook or a quick little work space if you don't need an outlet. There's booths upstairs, and tables in the back of the cafe. The tables are spaced out, however this place is actually at 100% capacity. Definitely no masks worn by patrons sitting at their table. A few were, but I would say 90% definitely not. So it kinda sucks at this time.

I think one of the biggest drawbacks of this place is that they like to play the music so LOUD! It's so hard to get a good work session done with the music so loud. Especially if you're trying to really work. I suggest you bring noise cancelling headphones and play your own music.

I've head a few of their drinks and food so far, and let me tell you, its pretty darn good! So far their lattes with flavorings are strong and delicious. Their turkey avocado bacon sandwich was really good! I mean I'm pretty sure I could make this at home, but if we're being honest here, it probably wouldn't taste the same. They also sell cocktails which are pretty bomb too.

They support local plant business owners. They have tons of plantars, succulents, tall plants all around the cafe for sale.

Plenty of parking on both sides and street parking!

This is such a great place for a study/work session, meetings, hangout, place to read, and quick lunch. One of my top places to go for a work session outside of home.

Just be aware that they are operating at 100% capacity.

Super cute, great service, and great food!! My one qualm was that the wifi was being a little silly, but I had a hotspot and enjoyed hanging out and working.

Food, drinks, and service are good. The only downside is the wifi, bc it’s weak. I like how you don’t have to pay for something to get the wifi password, but it needs to be stronger for people who need to work or study.

Excellent place to work while you enjoy a great environment with music. If you need motivation to start, this is the right place!

Went as a work from “home” location for the day. Chicken tacos were really good (could use more salsa for 3 tacos vs the tiny cup). The ambiance and coffee was really good. Only downside was the problem with the wifi. Had to hop on my hotspot due to wifi being unstable. Love this facility and will def be back.

Came back for a 2nd time to get work done. Food is still good. But you can't get any work due to their wifi being down. Thought this was just a one time occurrence but it appears this always happens. The whole point of bringing my laptop to a coffee shop with seating and lounge spaces is to be able to use it with the wifi. Will probably not be back. This place is too large to not have wifi to service the patrons.

Favorite place to work or study remotely. Atmosphere is incredible

This place kicked us out for bringing food, when we weren’t disrupting anyone. No warnings, just told to leave. When we were gonna buy coffee after anyway. No explanation from the rude manager, just told us to leave. We were in a corner on our own minding our own. We are both college students who come here often to focus on our studies and we always buy stuff from here, just to be kicked out by the rude staff despite not disrupting anyone else that was sitting. We will not be coming back anyway, the music is always so loud, there’s basically no seating, parking is the same. The food is overpriced and mid at best. The wifi is super inconsistent. It’s just convenient for us being college students close to here but it’s not a good place

I love the amount of seating this place has, and the available outlets. However, I’ve tried going to this place twice and both times the wifi failed to work on my laptop.

Great cafe location, good spot to work from.

Great place for working on group projects and great coffee. Very accommodating for team work with lots of large tables and outlets.

The atmosphere is SO FUN. Great place to bring your laptop to study and work, meet friends, or grab a quick bite and sit outside. workers were not helpful in guiding me through choices when I asked about allergies. My flat white oat milk latte was subpar.

I've been coming here for a few months now to work/study. It's definitely a go-to spot for me since they close at 10pm. The space has natural light and a lot of plants for sale from local businesses. There are small and large tables to work at as well as a few couches to lounge in. There are also plenty of outlets to charge your devices, except in their study nooks.

The staff is friendly and the coffee is consistent (I usually order a flat white or nitro cold brew). My favorite drink right now is their London Fog. For eats, the patty melt or breakfast tacos are yum.

The downside of this place is the poor reliability of their wifi - if it's pretty crowded, the internet is very slow. I've had to use my hotspot half of the time I'm here. The music is blasted all hours of the day, not just at night - even with noise-cancelling headphones, you can feel the bass and hear the yelling of baristas when orders are ready. If you get distracted easily, this may not be the place for you.

Overall, I like this space a lot. Hopefully Brass Tacks can upgrade their internet service to accommodate the high volume of people working here.

A great place to work, study, and relax at. Xiomi and Amber are both friendly and hospitable. Food is great... especially their breakfast tacos. This is a place I'll be regularly visiting! ☕

Great place to get work done and then get blasted with coworkers

Hipster cafe with good food and great drinks. Tons of seating options. Come with your laptop and plan to stay a bit.

Came here last week to get some work done. I originally heard about this place on social media so wanted to come give it a try. Love the ambiance, love the atmosphere.

What I did not like is the cubby areas towards the back did not have power outlets to charge your laptops. Plus it was a packed house and most of the seats were taken. The cubby areas are so cozy why would they not make power outlets. Me thinking they’d have plugs I came with a dead laptop.

Secondly I drove all the way from Jersey Village to come work and vibe and their wifi was not working. So I basically made a blank trip. All in all the place hasn’t won me over at all. It in fact stalled my work process and had to leave to find wifi. Don’t come here if you have important work due. This is the reason for the 2 stars

Full of people with laptops, who stay there half the day, no chance to get a table Saturday morning

Environment and vibes - 5/5. Functionality - 2/5.

1/5- They used to have a tent outside for covered seating but got rid of it sometime last year. They need a new tent bc the sun is intense (even the past couple days when it’s been cooler outside)!

0/5- The Wi-Fi doesn’t work outside, it never has. I always have to use my hotspot. Honestly a lot of times if I sit inside I still have to use my hotspot because when it’s really busy (it gets busy here often) then the wifi is overused and veryyyy slow.
They need to get stronger Wi-Fi that will work even when lots of people are using it, and also they need boosts/extenders so that it works outside as well. There are plenty of outlets inside. Outside, they used to have one long cable that one person could connect to their laptop at a time to charge but haven’t seen that for a while.

5/5-Employees are always kind and helpful.
3/5- Sometimes the music is wayyyyy too loud, even the speakers outside. I understand that it’s a bar too, but I believe the majority of people come here to work and study.

Lovely little coffee shop in East Downtown. Lots of setting both inside and out. Obviously a very popular place to study or work, laptops everywhere. No places inside when we were here so we sat outside and had a lovely time.
