Café Hagen Modern Scandinavian Café

Came to work, the music was super loud and I had to leave!

Loved the vibe and the decor! Coffee was good but the sandwich was a little bit disappointing. Great place to work at!

Good food, great beverages. If you are coming here to work (aka use wifi) there is a time limit (about two hours), when you reach your limit you are kicked off the wifi for an hour. This limit isn't publicly posted anywhere that I saw. I imagine they do this to keep the internet speed high (poor connection has also been an issue from time-to-time).

A very aesthetically pleasing place. The music was blaring so it's not a great place to listen in on meetings. Additionally wifi is slow, there are few outlets, and after a couple hours of using the wifi, they blacklist your device for an hour to reset. Completely threw off my partner and I's working time. I got to take an hour break I guess

I wish I could give this place a 3.5/5 because it's not a 3 but not really a 4 either. I'll also start by saying I didn't order any food, but the menu looked delicious. I ordered the coffee flight and a cardamom bun.

Let's start with the good:
The vibes! The vibes are amazing. Plants everywhere. Lots of natural light. The music is a little loud and a little boppy for my taste, but that's personal preference. Lots of seating areas and free wifi with outlets along the walls. Great place to work.

Now to the things that could be worked on:
The lattes. I didn't order any food, but I did get the latte flight to try their 4 specialty lattes: one with cardamom, one with rose, one lavender, and one berry. Only half were edible. The rose was very very sweet. Un-drinkably so. It also had a smell of fake rose rather than pure rose syrup or extract, which isn't hard to find or expensive. The berry coffee was entirely too sweet as well and honestly I couldn't take more than a sip. I guess it's what I expect of a berry latte because it tastes like a kid's candy. Like a fruit gusher or something. Fake flavor and mounds of sugar made two of the four beverages inedible. But the cardamom was delicious! Not sweet and quite flavorful. And the lavender was alright as well.

Another area that could use some work was the reception. The employees behind the counter, though they made eye contact, didn't smile or say welcome. The person checking us out at the register was also a bit cold. Not much smiling or greeting before we got to the ordering. You could say this is nitpicky, but I find it to be an important part of the coffee shop-going experience no matter where you are.

Some things that would make a great addition to Hagen:
- napkins not wrapped around silverware for people who need just a napkin
- glass cups for the water, because it's a nicer experience than plastic
- check-ins from the employees if people have been sitting for a while, maybe to offer water or napkins, etc.

Overall, I'd recommend Cafe Hagen to others while noting these caveats/issues, and I would come back to try something on the menu.

Neat place, packed with people working on their laptop on a weekday morning. Food and drinks are good but a tad expensive.

Not a great cafe to work from. Lots of people and loud music on a Friday afternoon. You get kicked off of the wifi after 2 hours.

Would’ve been a great place to come to for studying and having coffee, but wifi connection is generally slow and it also times out after an hour or two.

Delightful study spot in theory however they limit your wifi connection which is just a dark practice. Hate that. Visited for the environment to do some work, study, and enjoy some food and drink. Left because we were kicked out of the wifi and there was a whole hour wait to reconnect (1 hour blackout period). This was the main killer as many coffee spots and cafes are perfect for studying with the ambiance and pretty sure it's even proven to help boost productivity or creativity.

Anyways, Mokka Float was a cool experience, but definitely overpriced. I'd buy once and never again. You get one Mokka and then the ingredients deconstructed on the side for two small Mokkas to give you a caffeine kick.

On the other hand, the Breakfast Board was awesome. We found out that there's actually different pieces of bread offered (we didn't pick but got different types). It's the perfect balance of everything in a breakfast, lunch, or brunch. Grilled cheese, avocado, egg, and choice of meat (sausage or bacon) finished off with fruit (orange slices). Super healthy, tasty, and definitely made to boost your productivity.

Anyway, holistically the experience was under average due to the inability to focus on work because of the limit. Sure you might not always want customers to stay long, but cafes and coffee spots are great productivity boosting environments with opportunity to purchase more food or drink over their extended stay.

Chic little Cafe! More than just homemade coffee and pastries! They offer Scandinavian brunch/lunch eats along with wine and beer and Mimosas !! Cute and elegant hidden in South Lake Union . Good for laptop work , or casual conversation.

It’s a small well done place. Good place to pick up food and coffee and move on. Being a cafe I would have loved to sit here on weekdays and finish my remote work but they provide limited time of wifi usability. After 2 hours you are logged out for an hour which is a very cheap move. One cannot use hotspot either as there is bad range inside the cafe

A very cutesy cafe. My friends and I love to come to coffee shop to study and this cafe locks you out of their wifi after 2 hours…. Very unfortunate because we drove through early morning traffic hoping to sit and study for a little longer than 2 hours. Great service though!

Not a good place to study you get kicked off the wifi after 2 hours.. so plan on that.

I came here on a weekend to enjoy some cafe experience at SLU. The place was booming with people even at 3:00 pm. Chatting or working environment really gave me the techy vibes.

I enjoyed the Hagen Brunch that were in a tray of bowls. They included with cheese pieces, scrambled egg, I chose the sausage out of bacon or mushroom option, toast, waffles, avocados with sesame seeds(?), and grapefruit on honey.

Super healthy, generous amount, but bit basic for the price. outlets were bit far from where we sat, so I couldn’t charge anything. wifi is there, with good speed but low security though. Seats were really good!

Beautiful! Love the churro cruffin, great European drinks. Charging outlet available, comfortable in and outdoor sitting. The wifi is available for only two hours though, then you’ll have to wait for an hour to reconnect
