Cafe Neustadt

Very nice hidden local Cafe. Excellent service and tasty homemade cakes and aromatic teas.
You can enjoy listening good music while chatting, working on laptop or playing table games.

I have been visiting this place for couple of years and they have best brunches for great price, awesome atmosphere and very kind and professional service. On the other side I have witnesed some horryfying guest behavior, last time with a group of three people which insisted on order of drinks that werent on menu (and partly refused to order anything at all) and then accused the waitress of racism. Then I noticed at Google Reviews that these people are accusing services of “being rasist” in coffee shops, shoe stores, parfumeries, bakeries practicaly in every country they visit (they also like to make notes about “blonde” hair of alleged “racists”).

I really feel sorry for people working in services these days. You are up your feet more than 12 hours every day, do your best to provide a good service and still get yelled by a customer who use racism accusation everytime you point at his unaccteptable behavior.

It’s a cool, hidden cafe right next to Karlovo náměstí square. Inside a medieval court yard, in the heart of the New Town as its name is indicating. I was looking for a place where internet connection and coffee are decent so I could spend there a couple of hours working. Unfortunately this place doesn’t have a good internet connection, coffee is kind of pricey and they keep coming back to your table every 20mins asking you what else do you want to drink, it was kind of stressing me out. Other than that they also have some decent beer on tap, which is a nice addition if you want to meet somebody there in the afternoon. Interior is also spacious and nice.

Delicious place for brunch and drinks - they have a good beer which was tasty too. Sausages from naso maso are good. Plenty of seating and good atmosphere. Card machine wasn’t working when we went so wash cash only. But otherwise great.

Beautiful place but the lady who is probably the manager/owner is always so rude. The only thing she said is “No!”. I asked for a small request (use the plug inside to charge my laptop while I am sitting outside), she even couldn’t explain why. Even the employees were shocked about her behavior. Also each time when you order something, she makes that face and gives you an order like “Sit!” etc. It shouldnt be so hard to be nicer to your customers. It is not my first time here and it wont be last. Hope it will get better one day. 😔

Really a nice surprise at Cafe Neustadt! Great wifi access and a wonderful chai latte. Oh, and I also had an amazing red velvet cake. I'm not a huge fan of this type of cake so this was thinking outside the box for me. Really good cake. The staff were helpful and it's a nice vibe to relax or even get a little work done. I'll definitely be back. Cheers!

wifi was great. Espresso, ok. Unfortunately, only a few power outlets fo laptops

I've been really excited to try out this coffee place for a long time, however I got disappointed.

First of all, the location is great. Especially during the summer it seems to be a nice getaway from the grounds of the city centre and to take a break in a shadowed and quiet place.
The coffee was not bad at all, too, which surprised me in a positive way.
wifi is offered as well, which is great if you need to get some work done or plan the rest of your trip through the city.

However, already upon arrival the service was very unfriendly and inattentive. It took more than 30min to place an order, even though the waitress did not seem extraordinary busy. I was close to leaving again, as she just didn't pay attention to my table and looking and waving at hear only helped after 4 attempts. This is unacceptable.
While ordering I got told, I am sitting at a too big table, taking space for more guests. (Upon arrival there was no other free table) This confused me, however I offered to move, as by then a smaller table was empty. The waitress declined, so I did not see the point of making me feel uncomfortable and not welcome with this comment.
The overall motivation of the team also felt quite low, which in such a nice place is a shame and could change the experience a lot. A smile, kind words, and making the customer feel welcome seems to be not the strength of this place.

One more point to add is, to be aware that it's allowed to smoke in the outside area, which might be disturbing for some guest and a benefit for others. After all, I am not used to it from other coffee shops around the city, and as a non-smoker it might not make you feel comfortable.

After all, I can also not recommend the home made ice tea. The taste was not great and I felt sick after drinking it. One hopes this was maybe a one time exception...

Overall, I might give it another try someday. But bad service is a real downer and there is many other places to choose in Prague with kinder and more friendlier personnel.

Not bad, but not great. Nothing to write home about here. If you're trying to get some stuff done on the wifi go elsewhere as it's incredibly slow in every part of the cafe. I found the staff to be nice and attentive. There are lots of cafes in courtyards though. Even one right next door that's new. I'd give it 3.5 stars.

wifi doesn't connect at times.

Can be tricky to find until you realize it's INSIDE the courtyard - but is a nice friendly cafe with good coffee and good wine and even Club Mate soft drink (which visitors from Berlin will appreciate). When it's not busy it's a good place to work - there is wifi and also a few power points to plug into. Gets pretty crowded in the afternoons and evenings.

Kdyz jsem prisla, byl obsazen jeden stul, v kavarne tak bylo lidi presne 6, vcetne me a obsluhy.

Chtela jsem si vyridit par e-mailu s tim, ze jsem vysvetlila mou situaci, coz vubec nevim, kde obsluha bere sebevedomi v tom, ze se pta, co hodlam delat…

Nicmene ze situace jasne plynulo to, ze tu nehodlam vysedavat 5 hodin s jedním kafem, s nekym telefonovat, ci snad mit pracovni schuzku. (Jasne jsem dodala, ze se mi pere pradlo a ze uz jsem byla ve trech kavarnach a nikde jim nefungovala wifi, takze to stejne bude rychlý.)

V klidu jsem se zeptala, jestli to je tedy v poradku, kdyz se kolem toho tvaril asi tak, ze nastava apokalypsa. Na to mi bylo odpovezeno “Kdyz si date neco poradnyho”.

Pardon, ale chtela jsem se jen vyvetrat nekde na světle a v teple (zivot v přízemí…) a v klidu si vyridit do hodiny veci a zas běžet, nevim podle ceho soudil, ze mam 280,- na jidlo a pití, ale nemam a ani by se mi nechtelo davat penize nekomu, kdo me přivítal stylem “tohle tu nechcem”.
Aspon teda dekuju za ten predpoklad, ze nejsem chudá.

K tomu bych dodala asi to, ze recenze moc nepíšu, ale obsluha co me vlastně vyloučila z kavárny (kdyby tam aspon byl nával!) si mých 10 min ztracených nad tímto zaslouží.

Love this place! Good coffee, nice selection of home made desserts, free wifi and they host some pretty cool parties every now and then. Service is not great, but no matter!

I always love to come here to do some work in the open with coffee or beer. Free wifi and nice smiley staff included :)
