Beautiful space to work in. Enjoyed a latte with a croissant that was delicious.

If you're looking for a good cup of coffee or a light snack in a busy, upscale environment, then this is perfect.

If you're looking for a place to sit down and get some work done (i.e. you're a remote worker or a student, etc.), it's a bit of a toss-up. I came to the spot one afternoon when I needed a place to get some work done after seeing it in a list of coffee shops touted as well suited for remote workers. While my experience of the coffee and food was great, I was more than a bit frustrated looking for a seat with an outlet, not finding any that we're available. Should I have just gone to a library instead of a café and saved myself the trouble? Touché.

A final point. The aesthetic of the spot is really well done. There's bar seating bordering the back of the section where the baristas are preparing drink orders. In that section, there are these little lamps positioned so each patron at the bar has their own little reading light. And yet there were no outlets to be seen anywhere in that section.

Coffee is good but place is terrible. Close at 4 when it is still busy. People sitting around all day "working" while other customers can't get a seat. Go to work at your office. Likewise, why don't the employees work a few extra hours. Who closes a busy coffee shop at 4.

Great place to study/work!

Came here for a change of scenery as I work from home. Very cute atmosphere, outlets available for charging. Seating is limited in busy hours and not very roomy. But great place for getting some work done (bring headphones) or meeting a friend/colleague for coffee. Good coffee but expensiveee and had little grains of the espresso in but it didnt bother me or ruin the taste or anything.

The space here is incredible and the atmosphere is simply outstanding. Whether you're seeking a quiet spot to work on your laptop or a lively space to catch up with friends, the ambiance is perfect for both.

The Dineen Coffee team at 140 Yonge St. has been working wonders for my caffeine cravings and my mood. They make my days complete! Their friendly faces and positive energy light up every morning I walk into the cafe. They’ve been my special dose of joy!

The staff are always respectful, professional and their warm personalities keep me coming back. By far the best crew one can ask for. Everyone works so hard to keep the place running seamlessly, even with how insanely busy it gets.

Absolutely love starting my day with them. Your dedication keeps this busy place running like a well-oiled machine, and as a customer, I can’t thank you enough for the unforgettable experience. Shout out to each special one of you. Y'all are rock stars!

Great food but it cant get heated up. gets duper hot durning the summer. And ur only aloowed 3 hours of wifi:(

1. Coffee: it’s one of the best coffees that I had in Toronto. No doubts there. I ordered regular latte and vanilla latte, both were amazing. Rating - 5/5

2. Food: I ordered scone, since many options were sold out, including all the croissants, at 11 am on a Saturday (maybe I’m just a business person, but that’s just poor planning). I had to settle on a broccoli scone which was weirdly chewy and it had a thread in it. I dint like returning it, so I threw it away. Rating - 1/5

3. Service: Maybe I’m spoiled by other coffee place’s generous serving staffs, but this place one the most uninterested service staff ever. I asked for recommendation, since they were sold out, but the server was least interested to talk and no smile or any welcoming feeling. The other one whom I talked to was equally bad. I don’t think 11am on a Saturday morning is the right time to be in this mood. Anyway, I just hope that was just my experience with them, they are not like that with everyone else. Rating - 2/5

4. Ambience and location: Both were beautiful. It gives the perfect retro yet modern coffee place vibe. But since the sitting area is small and basics just one big couch, it’s a bit noisy. Can’t open your laptop and do work, unless you have your ear phones with you. Rating - 5/5

Overall: I would recommend this place to go for a nice coffee and nice location. Don’t expect a great/friendly staff or great food. I hope this review helps. Take care 🙂

My partner had a terrible experience here today. He ordered coffee in a mug, but ended up having to leave. He asked the barristas for a to-go cup but they refused to give him one, saying he had to ask the cashier (who was serving a long line of customers). The cups were behind these barristas. After eventually being given a cup, he was pouring his coffee over the sink/drain area, he was rudely told "Don't do that over there," in a snarky and demeaning tone. I am extremely disappointed in this service from what is supposed to be a local institution.

Also, wifi not working and when it was brought to the barriatas attention the response was "you're the second person to say that." Not that they had looked into it, or were experiencing issues. Ordinarily not something that would be bothersome or worth a poor review, but the tone of response and unhelpfulness combined with the other service issues show the poor service.

UNUSABLE. Disastrously slow wifi speed. For reference, even a basic internet 1-on-1 voice call (no video) doesn't work properly. Hovers around 1~2 mbps speed.

I love this place. Feels boutique and historical, but also modern. Lots of seating and coffee was great (but expensive). They had wifi but wasn't working. Was also loud, especially during rush, but for this place that's part of the experience.

Tried to go on a Wednesday afternoon and couldn't even find a spot to sit. People were working on laptops (which I don't mind), but were taking up *three* spots when they really only needed one. Dineen always has wonderful coffee and food (at all the locations), but I can't give this one more than three stars because, sadly, I *couldn't even get in* on a mid-week afternoon.

One of my favourite coffee shops to work for the morning or meet a friend for coffee.

Cute coffee shop with generous seating and a small patio, great for catching up with friends and family. Coffee was good and I really enjoyed the ham and cheese croissant.

Problem is that the wifi did not work both times I visited. The wifi password is displayed in an accessible location (front cashier) but the connection doesn't work. I consider reliable high-speed wifi a must for any coffee shop so if you're taking a call or want to work out of the shop, then you might want to look elsewhere.

It was nice but super busy as expected. Ran out of most pastries (need to come before 10).
The ginger molasses cookie was nice.
Very noisy, almost all tables were occupied with laptops. They do have free wifi.

I come here once/twice a day for a large iced americano. It’s overpriced (nearly $5), but I attribute that to paying for the upkeep of the prime location & number of staff they always have on shift. Customer service is not great, unfortunately. I always smile/try to be nice but only get it back 20% of the time.

I give 4 stars because admittedly, the espresso bean is really, really good.

The vibe is in no way cozy, I’ve never seen a regular customer and it’s always flooded with Bay St folks. I’ve never understood how people can work/study there either, it’s clearly so busy and inconvenient.

3-hour wifi limit

Good coffee but bad wifi! Does not connect well and doesn't work in most places. Pastries are decent.

Coffen is good but the place is just terrible with full of laptop people. Be careful, no table to sit because of them.
