I tried their Avocado Smoothie, and it was absolutely delicious — creamy, fresh, and perfectly balanced.
The café offers a great view of the Royal Palace, its gardens, and Durbarmarg, making it a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the surroundings. The working space is comfortable, with plenty of seating and a cozy ambience. The staff are friendly and attentive, and service is quick, making the overall experience even better.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for refreshing drinks, a scenic view, and a great place to work or unwind in Kathmandu!
This java is usually crowded during the day-time. But when I went there in the morning the place was almost empty with good view and calm vibes. Just as every java, the staffs were very humble, polite and professional. They made some special considerations for the breakfast set which I am thankful for. The food was good. I specially loved the sausages and the waffles there. The hygiene is on point. Also you get a very nice view of the palace from here. I would agree on the part that the place is over-priced according to the portion of the food. Rest I had a good time. In the mornings you can enjoy reading books and working with amazing view
Himalayan Java at 1 Durbar Mall truly stands out as one of the best locations among all their outlets. The first thing you’ll notice is the remarkable ambiance, which is both spacious and serene, perfect for unwinding or working. The space is quite large, offering plenty of seating options, and one of the major perks of this location is the incredible view. On one side, you have a clear sight of the historic Narayanhiti Palace Museum, while on the other side, you get a sweeping view of the vibrant Durbarmarg area, giving you a unique experience of Kathmandu’s charm.
One of the key highlights of this Himalayan Java is that it opens early at 6 AM, making it an ideal spot for early risers, business meetings, small get-togethers, or even solo work sessions. The vibe is peaceful in the morning hours, perfect for those who enjoy getting a head start on their day. The Wi-Fi here is reliable and fast, so if you’re someone who works remotely, this spot can easily become your go-to place for productivity. The spacious seating also means that you can find a quiet corner for yourself, even during peak hours.
When it comes to the menu, the variety of coffee is exceptional, and they serve some of the finest brews around. Whether you prefer a classic black coffee or something more indulgent, the choices here won’t disappoint. To complement your coffee, the American breakfast is fantastic and filling – it’s definitely worth a try if you’re in the mood for a hearty meal. Moreover, they’ve recently introduced a variety of teas, which adds another dimension to their already impressive beverage selection.
Overall, the combination of a great location, inviting atmosphere, quality food and beverages, and excellent service makes this Himalayan Java a standout spot. Whether you’re meeting friends, working solo, or simply looking to relax, this café has it all!
Very poor service. Pathetic. AC not working, no one to receive u at table for 15 mins. Ask for cold water, they say we don't hv cold water. Ask for glass to pour water, they say we don't have extra glass, drink from the bottle. Asked for icecream, waited for 30 mins, didn't come, had to leave being frustated. Just paid price of water bottle which was 5 times even tgat if a cold one at any local shop in Kathmandu. Never ever returning back. Hospitality is the first culture in such cafe, taste of food is secondary.
This place is kind of a local stbuck in Nepal. You can find this cafe in many places. Modern cafe for youth, cool, and working people. Of course i tried this place. This one is located inside One Durbar mall. I loved the atmostphere, the guests were all wore nice suits and very cool from local and also tourists.
The coffee was great, the staff are nice. The price was affordable. They use Himalayan Java organic local coffee. I come from Java island. Hehe.. feel close..
Its a amazing place 😄
Can see the Palace from here which is right in the city.
Centre of the city.
Amazing staff.
Amazing working place.
Amazing service.
But can be pretty heavy on the bucks , totally worth it for meeting and dating.
Chill 😎
A ‘must visit’ cafe if you’re in Kathmandu. Good coffee and teas, amazing views of the old place and ambience. Perfect for meeting with friends or family or working. Clean, bright, airy and temperature well regulated.
A year ago when i visited this place. there were a girl used to work here, fair skin, wears glasses, was cute and must be around 18-20. She was very sweet and i really loved the way she treated and served us. This time when i again visited this place yesterday. Unfortunately, she is not here working anymore. I hope I'll surely meet her somewhere, If anyone knows her or her id please do mention after reading this (she looks a bit korean and her height must be 5'2-5'5)
the place has a marvelous view ,and the ambience is great . It looks like a great place to hangout , or to work on your laptop .
But i faced a great deal of dissatisfaction in my recent visit .
I was there with my group of 4 friends .
Since we did not have any reservation and all the tables with the view were occupied , we decided to wait for sometime and take the one with a view . We requested the server for the same , but he did not seem to care as we waited nearly an hour and expressing disappointment for their ignorance to get the table .
The menu seems to be prepared only to show that the place is fancy . Most of the items on the menu were unavailable , even the beverages . Unless you order a cappuccino or an americano , the chances are 1 in 3 that you will get a ``aile tyo available xaina `` .
The food is not as good for the price you pay . You don`t need a lot to figure that the dishes are prepared with very little effort . They seemed to be simply heated/roasted.. out of the packets and served .
I like this chain of coffees around whole Kathmandu - I have tried 5 of them (but this one is my favorite because of the view over royal palace and hills in the background). All of them are somehow unique but this one can get more noisy than the others - so not too good for calm working but for little calm down it is enough.
Nice time you can spend working no disturbance and if cloud is clear amazing view of Ktm is seen
It was my first time in Himalayan Java Durbarmarg outlet. And I usually dont review that often but I need to write this.
I was being assisted by beautiful lady named Indu where she served me more with her eyes and smile that comfortness with work. Durbarmarg have a quite a veiw from the top but what catches my eyes was her moves while working like she is dancing all over. Will definitely visit again.
Coffee, Food and Service is 10 on 10.
I order Black Forest cake but to dry and nasty . Cake store place Cooling temperature bad she told me it’s not working it not fear for customer. This time the prime location and I always come to eat but it my last time I never come back .
If some thing worng don’t go this place .
One of my favorite places to cowork from in Kathmandu. Comfortable chairs. Plenty of outlets. Fast and reliable wifi.
Rooftop solution for studying and working.
This shop is like a Co working Space 😄
Haven't tried anything else but the matcha, even then, it's the best matcha I've tried in Kathmandu. The ambiance is amazing, you could just go chill and look at the sunset, or take your laptop to do some work, it's good for everyone
