What appears to be the most hipster, and therefore overpriced, place does not allow you to work on your laptop…. Outrageous! Not a place for digital nomads :((
They don’t allow working on your laptop after certain hours during the day. Just giving info to people. Don’t mean to bring the rating down or anything.
Cool (subtlety) bicycle themed cafe. Coffee delicious, avocado on toast was the best we’ve had in Spain so far. The poached eggs were a bit runny to what I’m used to, but scrambled was perfect.
Lots of people working on laptops - free wifi, power points to charge laptops etc.
Great coffee
wifi available but it’s limited by an hour if you only get one drink
Welcome to come here if you like when people point you where and how long you can sit with a laptop. I can't call this place laptop friendly. The table where it is "allowed" to sit with a laptop is uncomfortable, and upon entering you will be immediately asked how long you want to be here, which feels like "when you will have already left."
Great place for brunch or a quick coffee, ideal also to work.
Plenty of space for your laptop.
I've been going there with my laptop to get some work done and without it to just relax, since I live close and they have good coffee, although pricey.
The other day I went to have a coffee and read an article from a journal I had found on my spare time. The waitress asked me if I had a laptop with me and I said no.
She sat me at a table and after an hour went by, she came over to tell me that I would have to buy something more in order for me to continue sitting there, and that that were their rules.
I was shocked, didn't know what to say. Never happened to me before, even when I actually went with my laptop.
I wasn't even "working", just reading, no laptop no tablet. I said I'm sorry I didn't know that, to her answering: well now you do.
In all actuality I might have ordered something from their overpriced menu but her rude and condescending behavior was so off-putting that I just wanted to finish my coffee and get out of there. It felt like they wanted to kick me out. The place was also half empty.
Great attitude to keep a regular and neighbor, but they don't care, there will always be people that will keep coming in since it is very well located and has that hipster style.
From my experience in Madrid, all these places should be avoided, they are pretentious, expensive and cold, with staff working under bad conditions and owners making them being rude to customers and doing the dirty job for them so they can maximize their profits.
No wonder why they have a 4 star rating, although they have good baristas and drinks. It should go below 4, maybe then they will rethink their business model and customer engagement and not rely on the physical advantages of the establishment.
I wonder would they try to kick out someone after an hour for carrying a serious demeanor but just watching funny cat videos on their phone? Absolutely ridiculous, felt so bad ruined my day.
Rude staff
Broken plates
Can only work where they want you to and when they want you to. Saturdays no laptops out!?
Good spot to work from my laptop and have a drink
Perfecto para tomar algo rico y trabajar. Personal amable y wifi top.
I read the other review about laptops which tipped me off that I wouldn’t be welcome there. I called and was told over the phone, no laptops. Last summer I spent several evenings working at this cafe, it was a great place to work with long tables, friendly service and a lot of electric outlets. The food was decent, and I would order a few things to continue to justify my presence there as I worked. I do mean to bring the rating down because I honestly don’t understand the discriminatory policy against laptops. If someone took out a book would they not be allowed to read it? Or not be allowed to sit there scrolling on their phone, as long as they continue consuming? When a place refuses to accept its purpose then why would anyone want to go there? What do you care what people are doing as long as they’re paying for it and not bothering anyone around them?
Really disappointed. The people are looking in your pockets for your money. I went there in a weekly basis until one day they told me is busy and only if you order food I can stay. (We were 4 people in line they said this only to me.) Also most people had just drink. They are really cheap and racist there are plenty of nice other places for laptops around
Un buen lugar para teletrabajar, aunque el wifi va un poco justo.
wifi's not working. Too loud music to be able to work. It's empty but they put everyone on one table. The hot drink wasn't good either.
Best coffee in Madrid, probably in Spain.
Loved the password for the wifi. ;)
Fuimos a desayunar y tener una sesión/reunión de trabajo.
El desayuno rico pero el wifi no funcionó y el servicio depende de quién te toque bien o muy seca.
Las mesas de trabajo están seleccionadas,se comparten y tienen enchufes.
Excellent coffee, very international environnement. Vegan and vegetarian meals are proposed and very well served with a kind smile. wifi available for workers who need a cozy place to remotely work. Enjoy it! I recommend.
Perfect for working. More than 15 people have found this place and work here too. Great atmosphere. But google maps location is a bit misleading. It's on another corner of the square! Watch out
Super cozy place to study or work when in Madrid!
Cozy place, great for work and to chill
A great cafe where you can work on certain tables for wifi. Check in with someone and they'll tell you where you can sit. They have very good wifi. It's often pretty busy but they have great coffee and very comfortable seating. A mix of locals and a few tourists. Great breakfast selection and brunch on weekends. I like sitting on the bigger table because you get to meet other people. They have some cozier spots to sit as well if you're dining there.
As of recently they are much less strict about where you sit with your computer which is cool because people like doing that these days. Staff is always helpful even if they seem a little dry sometimes. It's a great spot for a group too. Love it.
Overall pretty disappointed with La Bicicleta. Before heading here I checked reviews online that said it was a good place to enjoy a coffee and get some work done. However, we were told to order more or leave an hour and a half after arriving despite ordering drinks and food, and the place not being full.
I came with my fiancé and we ordered 2 Cappuccinos, a bottled water and a couple of croissants, over the course of our stay. We planned on getting lunch at the cafe too as the food did look good. As an aside, the wifi was slow and kept disconnecting.
This was my second visit to the cafe as I came in the previous week, however during my previous stay I had no issues with service or internet. I am a remote worker, and was looking for a place to work, get coffee and eat Monday to Friday, however I do not think this spot will be it. The vibe in the cafe and the coffee was good, however they did not seem that friendly towards people that were looking for a spot to work and eat. To be clear, I was not trying to freeload their internet and space. In my previous visit I ordered coffee and food within my 2 hour stay, however just want to make people aware that if you are looking for a spot to work this may not be it, and you may be moved on pretty quickly.
Great for working
Nice atmosphere. work friendly as well
