Great pour-over and a lovely light-roast Ethiopian coffee. The coffee itself was excellent.
What put me off, though, were the signs restricting laptop use and working to only a few designated areas. Cafés have evolved, and for many customers, spending a little time answering emails or working on a device is simply part of the modern coffee-shop experience. I completely understand the need to manage seating and prevent people from occupying tables for hours, but some flexibility feels like part of the cost of doing business.
Unfortunately, the policy means I probably won’t return. There are plenty of places where I can get an excellent pour-over and also have the freedom to send a few emails while I enjoy it.
Coffee was just ok but that’s not the most important thing ( I know how hard is to craft this artisanal product and how much work goes behind it ) the Pastries were great !
5 people were working, probably over staffed by 3 of them. Despite that the energy was low. Our table was dirty and so also many other tables the cup from which we drunk was dirty.. no interaction, no Hi when walked in no Bye when we left.. just 5 people putting in their lowest effort… unfortunately…
Delicious coffee and friendly staff. Cool ambiance with wifi. I’m giving them 4 stars because at opening time they didn’t have all the pastries out.
Single estate coffee is my favorite coffee hands down. I came across this awesome place last year when I was working in the city and would go all the time before work for coffee, lunch, and yummy pastries. It is very sleek and welcoming and the staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommend 👏🏻
Amazing matcha and lovely pastries.
working on laptops is only allowed during week days on the high top tables, otherwise lovely staff :)
Sadly, I did not have a pleasant experience as a customer at this place. It was my first time being here, and I had no clue they had a policy of “no laptops during weekends.” as a student, I came here to study and had my laptop open, but one of the staff came to me and told me to shut down my laptop, and his tone of voice was unfriendly and rude. Then he pointed at the card on the desk with a tiny post that they had a no-laptop policy. How would I see it? It could have been done politely and gently, and maybe that would have made me come back here.
Great coffee, great location, awesome interior and I love their laptop policy :)))
I thought this was the kind of café where you could bring your laptop, sit down comfortably, get some work done, and maybe charge your device if needed. Turns out, I was wrong. If you make the mistake of asking a staff member, "Is there a place I can charge my laptop?" you'll get a polite but firm "We don't have that!" — as if I had just asked the most bizarre question they've ever heard. Like… has no one ever tried to charge an electronic device at a café before? It's honestly surprising.
And then you look around and see signs on the tables saying "No laptops." In other words: "Drink your coffee and leave." Of course, they say it with a smile, but the message is pretty clear.
This whole trend is strange to me: are we supposed to (over)pay for coffee and other ordinary stuff just to experience a bit of polite hostility? This is a trend that you see in "exclusive" , " one of a kind" cafe's around the town. It feels like a form of self-promotion disguised as exclusivity, as if the place is offering something so special that basic hospitality no longer applies.
Honestly, I don't like this trend at all.
Well, the interior is beautiful, the staff are polite, and the atmosphere is nice; but if you look past the pricing and marketing tricks, you'll realize everything is actually just... average. It’s one of those new-generation places where you pay more and get less.
Another product of the latest trend: offering the bare minimum in exchange for the maximum price, all wrapped in aesthetic branding and polite smiles. It's capitalism not just accepted, but embraced; running through your veins with a "single-origin" , "exclusive" coffee.
They need to sort their laptop policy out. If two people are at the same table working together especially when they came to their favorite coffee shop yo book a vacation you should let them.
Single Estate is definitely an amazing coffee place. They're super friendly, their coffee is wow. It's really delicious. They always have different kinds of coffee from several places you can pick from. It's not just picking which one seems good to you, they also give the background information of the coffees.
Their interior design is also pretty modern, a great place to work while you're having a sip of your delicious coffee.
The people are incredibly friendly, I often have chitchat with them.
Before traveling to Argentina I got a Single Estate Coffee Roasters sweater to travel with me!
They'll be my first coffee stop once I'm back in my hometown!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Coffee
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Interior Design
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ wifi Speed
They get annoyed when they mess up your order and you ask them kindly to rectify it. First one barista apologises, but then a second one comes to your table to start arguing and telling you how you’re in the wrong. Terrible service. Avoid at all costs and go to one of the other great coffee places in the area - DuckRabbit is for instance great!
Also, they claim to know about specialty coffee, but only offer one bean sort for the Aeropress which is supposedly their specialty. The whole place seems to be mainly tied up on some Aeropress champion working (or having worked) there? From the experience I just had, their knowledge about coffee and brewing techniques seemed very rudimentary. The coffee I eventually got turned out mediocre at best, though that could be influenced by the barista putting zero effort into it following the argument before preparing it.
The coffe and pastrys were really good ,however, once we took our laptops we were asked to leave because the cafe has a rule that you are not allowed to work on a laptop on the weekend. We were not aware of this and only found out after we had paid. Overall the interior, food and coffee is great however i don’t appreciate being asked to leave especially after I had already paid.
Quite disappointed as the place is pretty and welcoming unfortunately the staff not as much. I was informed of the no laptop policy after paying an expensive and burnt coffee. The cafe seems promising but not well done and tastes like burnt, wouldn’t recommend
I came to do some work here on Saturday on my laptop, but was told that there is “no laptop policy” on weekends. This was not written anywhere in the shop and I was advised after I was served the drinks.
Place looks nice, though.
They only advice you are not allowed to work on yo ur laptop after you order. There is tiny tiny little note hidden on the table you are not allowed to which is impossible to see. So today I got a coffee and a pastry which I had to leave on the table after being screamed at for opening my laptop.
Rude waitress told me to move to a different table with my laptop.
She says they don’t want it to become one big office.
Very arrogant.
Beautiful place, but it’s not a place to open your laptop while your enjoying your coffee (read the sign)
Nice place, open even on Monday morning with many people working on their laptops. Beautiful characteristic details have been preserved. The aroma of the coffee greeted you pleasantly. Only the first cappuccino wasn't at the right temperature. This was rectified, and we received a new one. We had a pain au chocolate with it. I haven't eaten anything this delicious anywhere else.
Brutaler Kaffee… man kann bei jedem Getränk seine kaffeebohne selber wählen.
Schöne location. Lädt zum verweilen ein… viele arbeiten hier mit laptop.
Very delicious coffee! It's a shame that there isn't often a table available and that you aren't allowed to use your laptop at the regular tables there.
