This place has amazing food (I recommend the BLAT) and the coffee is delicious. A great addition to RTC! The atmosphere is cozy, a perfect place to work on your laptop or read a book for a bit while sipping on a latte. Great staff, too! A+

Came in one morning for breakfast… what interested me was checking out their menu online and seeing that they had Shakshuka. So, that’s what I ordered upon arriving. I will say that the girl working the counter wasn’t very friendly at all; in fact, she was basically rude and acted as if she didn’t want to be bothered. Incidentally, I encountered a different person in the lobby who had the same demeanor – I equate this poor behavior to poor management and by the looks of these folks, perhaps management is catering to or caving to today’s mess of a culture.

As for the place – it’s beautifully decorated and the amount of amazing-looking baked good on display was incredible! Plenty of nice pastries, boules, and other breads as well as offering a nice breakfast menu. I just wish service was better, as I’d want to return and try more.

My Shakshuka had an AMAZING tomato sauce, but the egg was basically raw. It’s supposed to be “sunny side up” in temperature, but it totally wasn’t; even the yolk was as runny and raw as the white – yuck! So, Fortunately they gave a few slices of toasted boule too, which I used to eat the sauce – that sauce was great on the bread.

Overall – Very mixed feelings, but mostly on the negative side – I won’t return and I’m sure they don’t care and I’m fine with that.

Was so excited to see Tatte here, hadn't been since we went in Boston (which was 5 stars). Right off the bat, the people working there were not very friendly. No greeting, just staring, and they weren't even Gen Z. Ordered an oat milk latte and a lemon poppyseed loaf slice. As someone with a food intolerance, I always make sure to emphasize oat milk when ordering. Waited for 10 minutes for the latte, and the staff seemed frazzled. Handing each other pitchers of pre-filled milks. I was paranoid, so when my name was finally called, I double-checked that it was oat milk. The girl who gave it to me was not a barista, just someone who was walking by. She very confidently said it was. Left with it, and upon drinking, realized it was cows milk. I took off the heat protective sleeve to look at the label, no mention of oat milk. $6 down the drain. The lemon poppyseed loaf was also one of the worst I've ever had. The flavour was good, but it just fell apart into crumbles. Had to get a fork, and even then, it was crumbling everywhere. Disappointed.

My first experience was not good. the cashier who served was not friendly, there was no smile, it seemed like he had no intention of working.

FINALLY, a void in RTC has been filled! A cafe that does it all with an enjoyable open space. Bring a book, laptop, or a friend. The wait is over.

Black forest cake isn't that at all. Just ganache with a scrap of sponge with 6 cherries on top. Disgusting . Never again
While waiting for my holiday order of the cake, cookies and cherry pistaschio tart, I ordered a latte. The barista had a sour look on her face the whole time I was sitting at the coffee bar. I saw her and her co worker roll their eyes, don't know why. The baristas are always annoyed looking, never smile or engage with the customers. The coffee was luke warm, not tasty but diluted, and I picked it up right away. Also, some women working there hit my bar stool 2 times with a bus tub. Never apologized.. So weird.

Very excited to have Tatte bakery open in Reston Town Center. I was pleased to have my first visit on a Monday afternoon. There was plenty of seating where people were working on laptops, enjoying coffee, and contributing to a great vibe. Their staff were kind and attentive! I would definitely recommend any of their bakery or sweets. I enjoyed a drip coffee in a to-go cup and it tasted hot and fresh. Definitely a welcome addition to Reston!

Visited Tatte Bakery in Reston today 03/15/25 and had an incredibly frustrating experience. My wife and I ordered only soup, received our order number, and waited patiently. After 25 minutes, my wife went to check on the status, only to be told, “They’re working on it, please wait.”

After another 10 minutes, I was frustrated and went to check myself—only to find out they had given us the wrong table number, causing a 35-minute delay for a simple order. Instead of making things right, the supervisor (I believe) immediately canceled our order when I expressed my frustration. No apology, no effort to compensate for their mistake—just a cold, dismissive attitude. When I mentioned that I would leave a review, he shrugged and said he didn’t care!

Poor service, lack of accountability, and zero effort to make things right. If you value good customer service, think twice before dining here.

Baked goods dry. Orange cranberry muffin had a total of 2 cranberries. Croque Monsieur the absolute worst I have ever had. The croissant was actually still frozen in parts and the poached egg was hard boiled. The bread was so dry I could not cut it with a knife. The Mornay sauce was completely undetectable as the bread was so dry it was soaked up and nothing to taste. You can certainly get a better meal at Wegmans or Harris Teeter. I would add La Madeleine but they are closing. An absolute disaster and the problems have nothing to do with their newness. I suspect some of the Turkish labneh/spinach type dishes are better but I did not try them. I don’t mind giving new places a chance but I think this place is cheating with cheap policies. Said too much already. Lastly, coffee drink was lukewarm. The staff is certainly working as hard as possible but the products are subpar at best. picture of orange cranberry muffin.

Just wanted a quick cup of coffee (Latte). Our office coffee machine broke, so I thought I'd run downstairs to grab a coffee to go from the new bakery in the building. I should have known better than to try a cafe that just opened. Service was incredibly sloooow. Took 20 minutes from the time my credit card was processed until the Latte was in my hand.
They only have one espresso machine and the people working it were going as fast as they could, but it wasn't anywhere near fast enough.
Everything in the place looks great and likely tastes as great, but I won't be back for a while. Once they've had time to adjust and the newness rubs off, I'll give them another chance and update my review.

First off let me say that the food is good -- it's a bit pricey but the quality is there.

I can see why people want to come here.

The problem is they aren't equipped to handle the kind of volume they are receiving and it's unfortunate. It takes forever to order, there's no where to sit let alone stand, and when there are issues it's compounded by the chaos here.

I'm compelled to write this because I placed an online order at 11:42. They emailed me to notify me that there was an issue processing the order and to call to clarify. I did and was told that they got it sorted and to come pick it up.

I get there at 12:10, told they were working on it, still waiting. 12:30 rolls around...well it wasn't processed they are having issues with their online system. We were coming near 12:45 by the time they were even going to start the order.

Had to get back by 1PM for work so ultimately had to get a refund. You have to pay to park at this location before 5pm too, so keep that in mind if you think it's going to be a quick pop in and go.

So ultimately I spent nearly an hour and a half of my time (which is feel is more than reasonable) trying to pick up lunch, paid for parking, and left empty handed.

It's a shame because the food really is good, but all the logistical issues they have make it an absolutely terrible experience and a nightmare to navigate if you're on a time crunch.

Probably not coming back unless I have a couple hours to burn just in case.

This place has a lot of kinks to figure out still...Waited for over 20 minutes for a latte. Also got the wrong baked goods. Lots of people working but not really doing things as the tables and bar were uncleared and not wiped. The baked goods and coffee were fine but not worth the price.
