Lovely staff and lovely food. We had Oliwia who served us today and she spoke beautiful English and was very helpful, too. The chef tailored my omlette to my liking. This place also offers gluten free food and bagels for an extra cost of 9zl which works out to be around 2 pounds.
There is an option to sit outside as well. Plenty of tables but inside is very clean, colourful and inviting.
The omlettes are certainly fluffy and portions are ideal, they come with a side salad of freshly mixed leaves and sauce - which can also be placed on the side if you choose that option.
We ended up eating here on several mornings and want to say a special thank you to Julia who was looking after us on all 3 other occasions. She also recommend a lovely place for really delicious ice cream, the name of the place is called Bosko!
Thank you Julia, wishing you all the best!
We will be back! Thank you 😊
Be ready to spend some time in a queue as the place is very small, very good and very popular. Also very fast in their service and able to take care of the tight crowd inside and out on their terrace.
Menu is short and simple, service is extremely fast and food is very much as expected. Bagels and omelette, a couple of mimosas and coffees, friendly staff.
A very good start for the day!
I enjoyed a great ham & mushroom Omelette breakfast at Balans along with a perfect smooth Latte coffee.
Thank you so much to the prompt, efficient and lovely welcoming staff.
(I had originally planned to go to Pomelo café, but they were closed, which was their loss and my gain by finding Balans next door instead)
Best Breakfast / Brunch in Gdansk. We went here 2 of our 5 days in the city. Great Bagels, and a good coffee! Nice place to sit outside when the sun is shining! Can definitely recommend!
We came here for breakfast and had such a lovely time! The atmosphere was cozy and perfect for catching up.
The bagel was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The coffee was excellent, and we also tried matcha, which was really well prepared and tasty.
It’s a great spot if you’re looking for options, as they offer plant-based milk and vegetarian dishes too.
I’m leaving this review because of the lovely, kind girl who welcomed me with an espresso before I left Gdańsk — such a warm and thoughtful gesture.
The place itself is very cozy, with a relaxed atmosphere. They offer tasty breakfast sandwiches, desserts, and Wi-Fi, which makes it perfect to sit, work, or just enjoy your time. There’s also a nice terrace outside, as well as comfortable seating inside.
A truly charming spot — I definitely recommend
We were on a short trip in Gdansk with my husband and we decided to have a breakfast somewhere. He has found this small bistro and it was really great. I have tried salmon bagel and my man omelette. Girls working there were very nice with smile and very helpfull by choosing the meal. Thanks ladies
had such a lovely breakfast and coffee experience at this cozy little café. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it the perfect place to start the day. The coffee was rich and perfectly brewed, and the breakfast was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Everything felt made with care and attention to detail. I’ll definitely be coming back!
We had two wonderful breakfasts here and couldn't be happier with our experience. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming.
A special thank you to our waitress, Ada, who was incredibly kind, friendly, and attentive. She made us feel truly welcome and ensured that everything was perfect throughout our visit.
We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this café to anyone looking for a great breakfast and outstanding service.
A perfect spot for a nice breakfast. The service was exceptionally and incredibly fast. We have orderer the Roma and Madrid bagels and an omlette. All of them were very delicious and well-served. Staff is very friendly. The place is very neat and clean and the atmosphere is calm. The only problem is that you may wait a little outside to be seated because the room itself is limited but the demand is high 😊
Super delicious bagel spot. The taste of the bagels were amazing. Also the orange espresso was very good. Service was very kind. The outside area was cozy. Would recommend adding this cafe to your travel list for Gdańsk.
It's a lovely coffee shop with nicely made coffee. With the coffee beans from Java Roastery they're doing even better job dialing in the coffee than the Roastery themselves! (Heck I doubt there's anyone who dials in their coffee worse than the Roastery themselves haha)
I love that they are also female owned business and the baristas are friendly and professional. Anyway, I'm coming back for more coffee for sure!
The best bagels in the city. Definitely! Also I'm very fan of the matcha late and I have to say that the one that is served here is really good. Also the cafe latte and capuchino are very good. I went mostly for breakfast. The omelet and the club sandwich are not so good... The bagels are THE THING in here. Try all of them. My favorites: New York, Halloumi and Roma in this order.
Best gluten free breakfast place! It’s hard to believe that those bagels are GF!!!
Lovely little cafe that specialises in bagels and coffees, as well as other hot drinks. Found the bagels really tasty. Went back a second time and I tried the omelette which was delicious.
My husband really liked the ginger infusion hot drink - he's not a coffee drinker. I enjoyed both coffee and an apple spiced matcha.
Shop is small but service is smooth and tables become available quickly if you can wait outside.
Everything is really good. The coffee, the food (huge portions) and the atmosphere. Be prepared for a brunch that will keep your stomach full throughout the day.
The flat white coffees were very good. They are the 3rd best I have had in the 3+ weeks I have been in Poland.
We ordered the bagels as well. The beef and the smoked salmon bagels were very good. They have plenty of filling.
They have a nice outside seating area that is in the sun earlier in the day.
Super great coffee! And generous portions.
Lovely and vibrant atmosphere.
Quite difficult to get a table in the morning.
Balans was recommended to us as a hidden gem. We stopped by for a coffee and weren’t disappointed. Creative drinks in a lovely atmosphere. The staff was really friendly. The café was crowded, and for good reason.
I can only recommend that you check out a TonicEspresso sometime 🍹!
I had this on the “cafe list” for Gdansk. I finally went today for a flat white and a bagel (finish with an omelette instead). Tasty, good for money (less than 14 eur ) considering the size of the omelette . Spotted this nice refillable mug and also, in the end, the nice pins. I was sure I’ll post the review, didn’t ask for pin :), maybe tomorrow 😂. Hopefully they have them for sale also, otherwise - difficult to choose only 1
Best Bagel I have ever had. I am gluten free, they easily catered for me and it was delicious. Went there twice in a few days it was so good! 10/10 would recommend to anyone including coeliacs! Amazing food and staff!
It is not easy to find a gluten free meal in Gdansk, but thank Goodness for this place! It also happenes to serve some of the best gulten free bagel-sandwiches I've ever had. Turns out the owner is gluten free so she understands the importance of cross-contamination. And they have a super cute patio too! By the way, this review is long overdue, I was there in the summer and it's winter now. But I felt the photos were still relevant :)
Good food. Omelette was a bit dry and hard, not soft and fluffy. It reminded a quiche. However, it tasted good. The NY, salmon bagel was good. Service and ambiance were nice. The place was very busy, a full house on Friday, late morning.
Would go back.
During a weekend in Gdańsk I ate the vegan bagel twice - tasty, fresh, full of ingredients. It’s so great that they have this option - I found it weirdly hard to find a vegan breakfast option in Gdańsk. The staff is incredibly nice. On our second day we came half an hour before closing - the lady taking our order politely informed us but also ensured that they won’t rush us.
Last time I ate here year and a half ago and the place totally upheld high quality. Thank you!
And it took place on Saturday morning. The queue in front of the entrance took about 10 15 minutes, which is quite understandable with such a reputation of this place.
The food was absolutely delicious - bagels fresh and crispy (especially recommended Madrid), great challah with amazing sauce, very solid portions! The coffee and summer drinks were excellent . The staff was very nice - after indicating the table we were served within a few minutes and the meal was served after 10 minutes.
The place itself is very atmospheric inside and slightly hipster in the garden, good aura. A big plus for the cleanliness of the place.
I highly recommend a visit to this place. Waiting is definitely worth what we get
New York Bagel had a great taste. I recommend adding an extra egg on top. Mimosa I ordered was not bubbly enough - but you know there is no enough bubbles. It was quite windy by the time we were there, but they had an amazingly strong umbrellas!
I had one of the best bagels of my life here. The bagels are absolutely delicious and I highly recommend you try them! They are so good and filling. I had the Roma bagel and it was much better than I expected it to be. I guarantee that any customer will enjoy this restaurant. I highly recommend :)
Amazing food and coffee. They have a gluten-free variant for the bagels too.
I had the omeletes and the halloumi bagels. Everything was fresh and tasty. Also got the iced latte but coffee is really bad. Service was a bit slow.
Delicious bagels and very good coffee. Highly recommend New York and Halloumi ones!
Such a cute and tiny café. Luckely we got a table to dine in and the bagels was great 🥯 the bagel itself was not chewy like the London ones, but they did not skimp on the filling! The New York bagel is recomended 🤤😻also the server was friendly 👍
Bagel and coffee are really nice not to mention the service as a foreigner they are very accommodating.
The food and matcha were good! Very well served, the bagel is huge! Is a very cozy little cafe with a nice atmosphere, we were sat on a table for two right behind de counter, with the coffee grinder right by my ear, which the sound of it can be a little loud and a bit annoying haha, other than that really recommend this place.
Bagels were really tasty, we had the pulled beef one (Madrid) and Halloumi and they were of a great choice.
Just if they can spread the mustard evenly on the bagel for the beef one or decrease it a bit, it will be well balanced.
Coffee was decent as well.
Amazing little find! I had a flat white which was delicious along with the nicest bagel I've ever had! Service was fast and super friendly, wide range of coffees and they do French toast and omelette as well as bagels
We had breakfast here this morning. The food was delicious, but the service was poor.
My sister asked for her water flask to be filled up with cold water politely and repeated herself as requested by the staff member at the end. The person came back with the flask and when my sister took a big drink through the straw, she was hit with a very scary shock - it was BOILING water, not cold! The person stood there and saw it happen, took our payment and walked away. My sister was shaken and in shock, I then went to the desk and spoke with the person and she told me that my sister requested hot water - this defiantly was not the case, as she was asked to repeat herself again to make sure. The flask had a straw, so that would indicate a cold drinking flask and not a hot one.
The person did apologise in the end, but this was a dangerous mistake. Thankfully my sister is okay, with minimal injuries, but it could have been so much worse.
Very disappointed with the bagel here, having read such good reviews. The bagel itself wasn’t toasted at all,and also was on the bigger side of what I would know a bagel to be. While the salmon inside the bagel was nice, I personally just don’t think horseradish should be anywhere near it. The whole thing was just lacking and not very good. I wouldn’t recommend. Service was good though.
Excelentn and definitely 5star-worth-rating spot for bagels and all kinds of coffee :) if youre in Gdaňsk, this is MUST visit stop! ✋🛑
We came for breakfast and had a halloumi bagel and a vegetarian bagel, with an egg on the side. Everything was delicious. The coffee, matcha latte, and hot chocolate were also very good.
The food is amazing!!! Coffee is great yet a bit cold. What may upset in the morning-service. The table hasn’t been cleaned, sugar in the coffee I have to ask for. Plus the waiter could gave had at least friendly face. She had such a look as if life is wasted😂come on, it’s morning, please ask them to smile at least.
Very friendly staff, kindly switched to English when they realized we didn't speak Polish. The food was amazing (had the flat white and the veggie bagel), and it had a cozy and welcoming environment.
Amazing breakfast in a very cozy and comfortable place!! Definitely a worth visit!! For 2 breakfast plates, 1 coffee, 1 matcha latte and 1 juice we paid 149 zl including tip which is not mandatory but the service was so good we had to!! But it’s not mandatory for anyone
Absolutely best coffee in Gdansk! You should not miss if you decide to visit this beautiful city! Apart from the great tasting coffee they also have a very cute location and very friendly staff!
A lovely little caffe, with relaxing atmosphere and nice breakfast options! Coffee is nice here also! If you love bagels you MUST come here! Soft music in the background! Friendly service! Overall, a great place and highly recommend!
homesick east coast american here!!!! bagels are good!!!!!!! (not like bec on everything from a deli good BUT CLOSE ENOUGH!) waitresses were very kind and accommodating and the coffee was very good too! would come back for sure. also the omelette was very good and fluffy.
The Vege and Halloumi bagels are amazing. Coffee is so delicious. Perfect spot for breakfast/lunch.
Really enjoyed my breakfast here. The sandwich was delicious and full of flavor. Olivia was fantastic - super kind, professional, and made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this place!
Pretty good coffee, above the third wave average for sure!
This was lovely. We came here two times and it did not disappoint. The bagels were top tier! The only thing was that there was a lot of bees swarming. Everything was clean and service was good
LE: One year later, the bagels are very good, but the coffee is not that great. I had cappuccino once again and it was too milky.
Very good coffee! Unfortunately I didn't try the bagels, but I bet they're just as good as they look.
