The tuna dishes were excellent, as was the coffee with Amarula.
Good Wi-Fi.
Stepping into Botanicafe feels like entering a tropical greenhouse that decided to open a restaurant. Plants hang from the ceiling, crawl along the walls, and seem to be quietly judging your hydration habits. It is lush, vibrant, and alive in all the best ways.
The place is buzzing with life, and not just the botanical kind. It is clearly a local favorite, and for good reason. The menu is diverse enough to make any group happy. Whether you are into hearty brunches, light vegan bowls, or just want a dangerously good pastry with your oat milk cappuccino, they have got you covered.
The food is fresh and full of flavor, often topped with something green that may or may not have wandered in from the decor. Every dish looks like it has been prepared by someone who really cares about what you eat and also knows how to arrange leaves artistically.
Finding a seat can take a little patience, but once you are in, the jungle vibes and great atmosphere make it worth the wait. You might even forget you are in a café and start considering adopting a few hanging plants yourself.
Perfect for food lovers, plant enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys pretending to work on a laptop while secretly people watching.
We had to wait 30 min to get in, in the cold and rain while there were a lot of empty tables inside when they finally let us in. Not enough staff working to take orders at the tables. When the food finally arrived they had taken our order wrong so we had to wait a further 10mins for the new plate to arrive. Language was not a barrier due to not being a foreigner. The breakfast was terrible, avocado was seasoned with cayenne pepper that was far too spicy and the eggs had no seasoning at all. Very small piece of toast. Bad experience overall, would not recommend.
Great food, wifi and lovely setting
A very pleasant and versatile place, perfect for a date, coffee with friends, or work (it just doesn't have Wi-Fi). The space is comfortable, with great alcoholic and soft drinks, and well-made coffees.
It's rather difficult. Well, quite a bit.
When you pay R$15 for a toasted bread roll, you really expect something more than just eating and going home. You expect an experience in every sense, which didn't happen.
Upon arrival, a person (who wasn't wearing the establishment's uniform) approached me at the door and said someone would serve me there; I just had to wait sitting outside the window or on the bench on the sidewalk. This person appeared outside, called some customers inside, and didn't realize we were waiting (nor were they informed by the person who greeted us outside). The second time this person appeared, I held out my hand and pointed to the fact that we were waiting, and they promptly invited us to sit down (still without any idea that we were waiting).
We went in and sat down. We were immediately served by Roberto (who came to us without us having to call him) who took our order (two coffees, bread, and other things).
The coffees arrived quickly (I believe they come from the island located right in the middle of the first room).
From there, it was a wait of about 35 minutes. During which we tried excessively to make the coffee last longer and be enough to drink while we ate breakfast. We failed miserably in this endeavor, even though we savored each sip after a good amount of conversation about all sorts of topics.
"And our order?" - we asked Roberto, who was running back and forth (it seemed to me that the place was, how do you say? understaffed).
It arrived in a few minutes - if we had known we could just ask, we would have done it sooner.
By the way, the place has Wi-Fi and the password is (removed at the company's request) - no, the password isn't written anywhere, you have to ask.
While we ate, we saw through the window the extension of the line that we had been leading an hour earlier. Around us: several empty tables. I swear there was a family filling out their World Cup sticker album, and I believed they'd finish before we even got to sit down.
After so long, you need to use the restroom, of course. However, it's small, located upstairs, and only has one stall (unless they have another men's restroom, and we can't be unfair!).
The last chapter of the saga was paying the bill: even taking payment is slow – which made me certain they were short-staffed: we asked twice before a kind soul came with a card machine.
From there we went to the street market next door (Sundays) and ordered pastries with soda – delicious! Ready in 5 minutes or less and with very pleasant service. I recommend 5 stars for this pastry, which probably isn't available here to rate, but there's the tip.
p.s. After the pastry, we went back to get a taxi, and it seems the family who was putting together the album went into the café (or gave up waiting, which is more likely). If you're in São Paulo, believe me: it's not worth waiting in line for anything. There's no experience so unique that it's worth the wait; there's always quality and variety.
I went to Botanikafe, which is a place everyone recommends for working in São Paulo, had lunch, and when I went to turn on my computer for a meeting, the Wi-Fi wasn't working. It seems they're turning it off so people can't work from there. I live far away, I left home for this, I spent money, and I even missed the meeting. Don't go there if you need to work, because even my 5G didn't have a signal there.
