Overall just really disappointed. Food was good and so was the coffee. The ambiance is hit or miss.
Prior to ordering I asked about wifi, and was told they had it, and they advertise such. Unfortunately what they fail to tell you is that it is only for 20 minutes, and you cannot extend that amount. I had a few critical emails I had to get out after brunch, and would never have chosen this spot, had this been clearly communicated.
I know you don’t want to turn into an “internet cafe”, but you should provide more reasonable options, or be transparent. Such a shame, this place could have been a gem.
Came here for a late lunch. The staff were really nice and all seemed like they enjoyed working there and cared about the service they offer.
The Sanga’s we had where perfect, and both really enjoyed our drinks
The worst cafe I have ever been to, worst is due to the people working there & service.
While taking order, they have mentioned they can do scrambled egg, but when received it’s just boiled egg.
When asked to replace, they were lying they didn’t mentioned anything about scrambled egg.
When I confronted stating, open your camera recordings, they the agreed to refund, the manager is even worse with rude behaviour.
Definitely a big NO for this cafe ever again.
If they can’t be honest to their customers, mot sure why they are even in business.
Once again worst worst cafe I have ever been to.
Wonderful place and delicious breakfast. Very nice people working inside. I strongly recommend it.
I enjoyed my coffee and lunch here. I had an affogato and it was great, although, any legit affogato is incredible. They have good wifi speeds and everything else is very well handled. The food is western and Asian fusion and I absolutely loved the flavors in my sandwich.
I stayed at the Travelodge next door for my work break and frequented Joe Black at least once a day.. shamefully sometimes more!
Being new to Sydney and working FIFO it’s hard to navigate the city at times, and after my persistent hunt for a cosy cafe that I could go to with my book I found what I was looking for right on my doorstep (literally)!
Sometimes it did appear a little short staffed, but I am aware that this is hospitality at the moment and they made up for it in awesome coffee and breakfast.
I will definitely be back!
Coffee: 5 Senses
Passion: 8/10
Crema: 7/10
With new owners comes the inevitable worry about the impact on the coffee, but it seems that Joe Black has managed to make the transition and still provide a reliable source of good 5 Senses coffee. As they still have a single origin and cold drip on offer, their focus on providing a broad coffee experience to their customers is clear.
I started off with their Ethiopian Kochere Yiracheffe as an espresso and was a bit underwhelmed by what it delivered. Rather than a citrusy, floral experience, I got much more of a molasses, syrupy, dark coffee. Wasn't bad, but certainly didn't taste like I'd expect from a Yiracheffe.
To finish off I grabbed a mac, and think that I suffered the latte art of macs, where to make it pretty a little too much milk is added. All I can say is give me ugly looking delicious coffee any day... :-)
So while the individual coffees I had today were not excellent, the staff service and attention to each coffee does promise lots of potential. With so many great cafes in this area, it is now up to them to live up to it.
N.B.
There is no #powerwhoring available
There is no public wifi available
Really nice people working, all of them really kind. Good coffee and chill environment
