Honestly, one of the worst specialty coffee experiences I’ve had. The V60 was prepared carelessly and with very little professionalism, far from what you would expect from a proper specialty coffee shop. The prices are almost double those of many other places, yet the quality doesn’t justify it at all. Unfortunately, the person preparing the coffee seemed to lack the basic skills and attention to detail expected from a barista. Definitely not recommended.
Best specialty coffee we’ve had in Cairo so far, and that says something since we’ve been to many in zamalek. The cortado was immaculate and V60 (Colombian, rose) was delicious. Pastries looked great and the vibe was great both indoors and standing outdoors.
Only small minus is that they do not serve the V60 in a glass container and small cup - it’s only one mug.
The best espresso of all our trip in Egypt!!- by far!! If you are looking for a real espresso, they use a la marzokko mashine, and they won the 2nd place of batista in Egypt.. good end of our trip!:)
This place offers an exceptional and beautifully curated selection of coffee and matcha, with flavors that truly stand out. Their summer desserts are not only delicious but also presented with great care, making each visit feel special. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service is consistently outstanding. The staff are friendly, attentive, and always welcoming, which adds to the overall enjoyable experience. It’s a wonderful spot to relax, enjoy quality drinks and sweets, and spend time in a pleasant environment. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great taste and excellent service.
Ice Spanish Latte was so so, nothing special. Its even like there’s something stuck in your throat when you sipping it. Desserts also just a few, very limited selection plus the size of the cheesecake is so small, so I guess its not worth my money so I’m not buying it. Seating area is limited as the place itself is just a tiny little coffee shop. There is no light in male bathroom which was so upsetting so you need to turn on your flashlight using phone. Also, the plugs are not working so be mind if you want to do work here because charging phone/laptops seems impossible. I hope they could fix these issues real quick to ensure the customer satisfaction.
Yet, from the bright side, the industrial design is top-notch. wifi was working good, no music played in the background which turn this coffee shop into library. JK. Also, the price range quite attractive, I think its one of the cheapest in the area. Overall, its a nice experience. Would come back again in the future.
Best dripping coffee I had so far. 👏🏻
Kavun in Zamalek offers a warm, cozy vibe with genuinely kind service — Ahmed took great care of me. They’ve earned their reputation, even placing second at the Egyptian Barista Championship. I ordered a Saudi V60, and it was brewed masterfully, showcasing real skill and attention to detail.
To be honest, the coffee wasn't bad, but the price was a bit high, and it wasn't that special either. Not a special experience
It's a very cozy place. Ice salted caramel latte was by far the best in Egypt. Mt friend liked corto coffee as well. We ordered pistachio eclair with the drinks but we didn't like it. It felt too dry and it's too small. Prices were good and staff was friendly. The only comment will be: girls bathroom was under maintenance so only men's bathroom was usable however it wasn't clean therefore we didn't use it. I hope you take this into consideration
I ordered Iced Spanish Latte & Honey Cake
The Iced Spanish Latte was the star of the night, perfect coffee quality and not too sweet like other cafes because of the condensed milk
Honey Cake was great, moist and perfectly sweet
Service was 10 out of 10
Kavun Café in Zamalek offers a calm, stylish space with excellent specialty coffee and friendly baristas. It’s a great spot for working or relaxing, with standout drinks like cold brew and Spanish latte. Seating is limited, but the cozy vibe and quality make it a favorite among coffee lovers.
We ordered an Americano coffee, a Fi Sixty, a flat white, a croissant, and a cheesecake, and both were perfect.
I recently visited Kavun Speciality Coffee in Al Zamalek, and I must say, their cappuccino was perfect! The flavor was rich and well-balanced, with a beautifully creamy texture. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it a great spot to relax or catch up with friends. Highly recommend this place for any coffee lover!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Didn’t like the place much, too small. But nice interior
Coffee is accepted but not special
Honestly wouldn’t go there again
Hands down the best coffee place in Zamalek.
The place offers a wide variety of coffee both hot and cold. The prices are reasonable. Also, each cup is perfectly prepared and is consistent from my experience.
The pastries taste great, I recommend the brownies!
Overall, a nice cafe for coffee lover and casual coffee enjoyer alike.
We got here before 9am and it was open. Good for early risers like me.
Americano came out just how I needed it. Hot, black, and full of flavor.
We tried cappuccino, and it was very good. The cafe was open early at 8am on a Sunday during the Ramadan season.
Great place for coffee lovers. It’s cozy.
The coziest place in town. it’s a small place but you will never feel uncomfortable it has a beautiful vibes and soul
Their Spanish latte and hibiscus are top tier
I had a wonderful time at Kavun, a cozy coffee shop with very sweet baristas. Mariam made me an iced V60 that was strong and full of flavors, and a flat white that was balanced and creamy. She was very nice and attentive, and made sure I was satisfied with my drinks. The coffee shop is located in a quiet street, and has a relaxing atmosphere. I enjoyed the music, the books, and the art on the walls. I think Kavun will be my next comfort zone for a long while. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves coffee and friendly service. Here are some photos of my drinks and the coffee shop.
As regular customer there I have some points
1- the coffee there is so good and that’s what makes them special ( If you like specialty coffee, Try Ethiopian and Colombian passion fruit👌)
(If you like sweet coffee highly recommend cardamon, salted caramel , pistachio)
2- the sweets are often there after the noon( Try the cheesecake blueberry )
3-The most inconvenient thing that most of the time they don’t have change (so you have to wait until they have change and this unrealistic for place to be like this!!)
4-finally I really would recommend to make mariam do your coffee she’s so good making coffee and she got a nice personality 💛
Very nice place! More like „Berlin Hipster Style“ but very very nice! Loved the place and the coffee!!!
One of the barista throws a lot of bad comments
With the buzzing coffee scene now in Cairo, competitive service and product are what make the game.
I have been to kavun now for 4 months for almost a dozen times in different settings like morning coffee, work & coffee to go . I have more or less stuck to cappuccino, salted caramel latte and Spanish latte.
I'd recommend this spot for a good peacful morning read or focused work / study.
1. The location hidden away in a side street makes it optimal for a quite morning read or work/ study. Especially that it's further away than the cluster of restaurants/ cafes and thus doesn't attract same crowds. It usually super quite in the morning.
2. The interior is set with various seating arrangements and plugs all along .
3. I found the coffee to be good. It's also well priced.
4. Its not a big deal butmake sure to ask for hot " hot drinks " // because they seem to have some milk-based recipes that are now made warm like the black range
5. I unfortunately wouldn't recommend sitting outdoors except in winter because of the flies. It was honestly unbearable.
6. During my visits, I found the cafe attracted coffee aficionados whom documented the processes and were able to have deep conversations with baristas on the coffee. Knowledgeable staff is a great plus. Because the aficionados are the ones that will give a cafe its true buzz.
Review for coffee only.
Didn't like my flat white with oat.
Others liked their coffee
I had hand brew coffee and lotus cheese cake. All very nice.
Great vibe, excellent coffee, and very friendly staff. Highly recommended!
They make the coffee in a fascinating way that make the resultant coffee will shock you.
The place is a little bit small but has a nice unique design, it is good for a quick rest and couples.
Also the barista is very kind.
Kavun was a 3 minute walk from our Airbnb and I was so glad it was.
The team at Kavun were always friendly and helpful, trying their best with the language barrier.
The cafe has both inside and outside seating and counter seating at the window.
The flat whites were fantastic and consistent. Milk treatment was on point and the espresso perfectly extracted.
Their cold Spanish latte takeaway drink is also great.
Dark mocha was absolutely stunning
The place is comfortable and cozy and the barista is nice but the coffee needs more improvement.
The coffee was very good. The place clean and cozy. I would return.
Staff were very rude — gossiping and making comments without realizing we could hear them. The coffee tasted terrible.
To be fair, the prices and decor were good, but I don’t plan to visit again.
A high quality coffee bean is used very tasty. And very crowded I had to wait more than half an hour for my coffee
High quality coffee, really quite area so it's super convenient for remote work or studying.
The coffee tasted more sour than usual, and it doesn't smell good.
Great coffee taste & atmosphere.
Get the passion beans as cold V60 if you like the acidity in your coffee
Great cafe!! We ordered a V60 & a latte, both were exceptional! We also bought some beans for the road! Would definitely recommend!
Love this place. Nice, aesthetic 😆🤍 great place to go with friend.
Coffee is amazing, Bakery is not that good, service is a little slow and the outdoor area needs to be bigger.
But in general it’s a good experience
Such a cozy place! The coffee is really good and unique, and the Spanish latte is definitely a winner.”
Very good coffee place, calm and quiet, good shop to have a talk with friends .
More important than the quality of presentation, thank you for your hospitality♥️
❤️❤️❤️
The coffee was actually good, no complaints there. But the place was crowded, and not in the cozy-busy kind of way. There were quite a few loud and rude Khaleeji guys, not all of them of course, but enough to kill the vibe a bit.
Honestly, shoutout to the workers, absolute heroes for handling the chaos with patience. I don’t know how they do it.
Good coffee, but the crowd might not be for everyone.
The place is very nice tbh, the coffee is just average. The staff is unfriendly, no smiles and barely reply, I asked for an adapter to just charge my phone few seconds which was right there in front of him and the answer was as I expected “no”.
They could just be nicer, just sayin…
Matcha is freshly blended, it’s a 10 👍🏽
They fully understand their coffee and their drinks, perfect flat white
Special thanks to the most friendly, effecient and perfect team “sayed-hamed-fares-mahmoud u makes us feel like we at home
Got beautiful place. Calm and enjoy our meal and great coffee. Love it ❤️
