I just wanted to say how much I loved MUG!
The food is delicious, the atmosphere is beautiful, and the service is great. The café is located in a complex in Pamplona Square where you'll find a theater with stunning architecture, corporate towers, co-working spaces for rent, and it's simply beautiful and peaceful; it doesn't even feel like you're in São Paulo.
I want to emphasize again that the food is delicious and, more importantly, reasonably priced! I went with my sister and we ate a lot, trying several dishes (cappuccino, toast, croissant with salted butter, pastrami sandwich, cheesecake, brownie, and soda), and the bill totaled $163! Considering the neighborhood's average price and the prices usually charged by gourmet cafes, I found it very affordable.
Excellent place to go if you're a snob and a bit of a snob.
Tables shared with strangers, a long and slow line because the waiters allow you to hold a seat with a laptop, plus the reception staff had absolutely no willingness (or patience).
At least the food is good, otherwise even the building wouldn't save it. I ordered a Pastrami Sandwich and a 320ml Mocaccino (which appeared 4 times on the menu, with 4 different prices). Very tasty.
This was my second time visiting mug.sp. The first experience was good, but this second one was bad. Starting with the long wait in line, obviously the establishment doesn't have much control over this, but the space is already small, with few tables. However, some customers are at their tables working on their laptops. Logically, the time spent by these customers is much longer, and they consume little. It would be interesting if the establishment had some policy regarding this, especially during peak hours.
What made the experience completely unpleasant was the service, practically from all the staff. They were unfriendly, grumpy, and rude. I ordered brunch for two people, however, the natural juice option was not available. I asked what was being offered in exchange and was informed that nothing, that the only option was bottled juice, but it would be charged separately. The company should consider the customer experience and, in the absence of an item, offer a similar one as a substitute. After arguing this with a server, she was extremely rude and impolite, replying "okay, I'll do that". She made a facial expression that made us extremely uncomfortable, turned her back, and left. After that, the table was served by another person, and every time the first server passed by our table, she made a disgusted face. This attitude was totally unjustified, considering that I was cordial and polite in arguing about it. The staff urgently needs training on customer service.
This was the second and last time I will return to the restaurant. The food is okay, the price is reasonable to high, but the service undermines everything. I do not recommend it.
I went with 5 other friends to check out and enjoy the place, located in an old mansion. The interior space is very small, and for all of us to sit together, we had to wait for two tables side-by-side to become available. We waited for an hour (literally) for that to happen. We only realized (when we were there) that it's also a co-working space, and that some people were having coffee, opening their laptops, and staying there for an eternity without consuming anything until the end of their "personal workday," and the staff didn't take the initiative to relocate these people when other tables became free, even though they could have done so. They should make it clear on the website that the space also functions as a co-working space. We liked the dishes we chose; they were well-prepared and visually appealing, and the advice is: if you're in a group of more than 3 people (the maximum that fits at a small indoor table), choose another place. There were two or three tables in the garden, but it was drizzling. There were two sofas with coffee tables that were also being used for serving, but then you had to eat with your plate in your hand. There was a sofa in the reception area, and we asked to serve ourselves there by setting up a small table, but that wasn't allowed. It would be interesting if the establishment considered separating spaces for co-working and for the restaurant so that the restaurant area doesn't feel cramped. Nice, but I won't be back.
I love this place, it's very comfortable for sitting with a laptop.
The coffee is delicious, I worked on my computer in the afternoon and they have good Wi-Fi. Everything is very nice and comfortable. Vitória, who served me, is a sweetheart, as are the other waiters.
