A hidden gem with an amazing variety of coffee to explore. The place has a unique charm, completely surrounded by greenery, creating a calm and refreshing atmosphere. The small indoor seating area gives you a cozy bar-counter vibe, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy your drink. It’s also smoker-friendly. A great place to spend some quiet time with good coffee and a peaceful ambience. ☕🌿

Another new coffee joint in our alwarpet, has a great outdoor area. Tough to get some seats espcially during the peak hours in evening.
Tried Americano - it was served too late and the crema onnthe top was already gone when it arrived in table.
Also tried the Cold Brew, it was fine.

It's a tiny cozy place. Service is not fast, but it suits the ambience. People come here to chill, they are not in a hurry. There is no reservation, so come early else you'll have to wait for a table. Coffee and the Fries were delicious. The premises also host a spa and shop for pets. I had a memorable time here.

There is a board outside in the road but once you go inside you are searching a little as it’s hidden and tucked in.

Ambience is good.

I had paneer pesto sandwich but taste was sub par. Was not impressed at all.

The choco cookie was ok.

Set up is nice as it’s outdoor.

Beautiful and minimalist backyard-style café. There's indoor seating as well, but it was a lovely day so I sat outside. Try the salted caramel coffee - delish!

Exquisite outdoor dining with full shade from a large tree (chill even when sunny). Their CREAMY EGG OPEN TOAST & mild roasted frappe are worth living for!

Hidden Gem is what this place is!! Tucked in heart of the bustling city is this cafe, serving some authentic coffee and aesthetic ambience for people who love outdoor space to be one with the nature! The coffee was yum and will soon visit for a hearty meal. Chennai needed this!

Favourite place in town! Their coffees are amazing, hoping to come back and try more of the food they have introduced.

Breakfast was awesome. Especially their pesto chicken sandwich, signature eggless french toast and belgian hot chocolate was top notch. Ambience was great. Very very cool place to hang out with friends.

Good coffee & ambience. 2-3 people group it’s better to visit them after 10PM, so it’s less crowded on week days.

Had the OJEspresso, enjoyed it! Great atmosphere, outdoorsy with limited indoor barside seating. However outdoor space could use more stand fans, especially now during the summers. Also being surrounded by buildings on all side and air circulating in one direction, probably lead to passive smoking a little more than I care for. So if passive smoking is a bother, would recommend just seat yourself in a corner table or indoors.

I've been a regular at Backstory's Anna Nagar branch for quite some time, so I was excited to see them open a new space in Alwarpet. Happy to report that it's just as good.

The café itself is lovely. It's open, airy, and has a relaxed outdoor feel that makes you want to linger a little longer over your coffee. Speaking of which, the coffee is exactly what I've come to expect from Backstory: consistently excellent.

What really excited me this time is that they've added a food menu, and it's amazing. I had the sourdough sandwich, and it was genuinely one of the best bites I've had at a cafe in Chennai.

Ambience inside the cafe is good but the path to the cafe fills up with water on a rainy day making it difficult to walk in or walk out. I had only a cold coffee which was okayish.

Worst ever coffee. 1/4th cup of ice and a pinch of coffee is what they call Coffee. Anna Nagar branch was way too good.

Cute little place. Liked the mocha frappe a lot, matcha not as much.

The vibe is good, the outdoor seating is excellent. A worthy place to do our work in peace

Good ambience but I was quite disappointed with their signature eggless french toast....very sparse on the banana, (6 small pieces, seems more for presentation) and exactly one berry (not even berries plural in the description!) and minimal toffee sauce. Maybe ask for icecream on the side if you don't want soggy bread. Since I was looking forward to trying this it was disappointing. While checking out they said i could have asked for extra fruit but why not just serve it as described. Anyway if you want healthy serving of fruits ask beforehand. Their cappuccino was ok and i didn't try their coffee specials that other reviews have highly rated.

A hidden gem in Chennai - lovely piece of quiet in the city. Really cozy setup under a beautiful mango tree with some amazing coffee and clean food. Helps that they have owners who’re really passionate about good coffee and good food. Do try their mocha and pesto sandwiches!

So pleasing to come across a cafés that puts in effort into their coffee and doesn’t play loud music so you can have the space to have conversations.

Backstory Coffee has been my regular hangout spot for the past few months. Love the coffee and food, and the quiet, peaceful location makes it even better. A great place to catch up with someone or spend a few hours working.

The food was really nice and so was the atmosphere but the service was really slow. That's the only reason why I would think twice before going to the place but the service in itself was good.
