Food was delicious,. Clean restaurant and very friendly staff.

Deepthi01.11.2026

Had a lovely meal at Pumpkin Tales (Alwarpet). It’s also placed at a fantastic location.
We ordered pumpkin soup, pierogi, zatar bread with dressed hummus, Thai green curry, Singaporean Laksa, Lavender and blue pea lemonada, filter coffee boba tea with almond milk and a Tiramisu.
Every item was exquisite (esp the Zatar bread). Thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Service is prompt and quick. There are many vegan options also. Ambience also is quiet and family friendly. Highly recommended.

Rakesh Puthumana01.11.2026

I visited Pumpkin Tales in Chennai for brunch based on a friend's recommendation, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish.

The ambience is beautiful, cozy, and thoughtfully designed, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed brunch. The service was outstanding, and the staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain the dishes and help us choose from the menu, which added to the overall experience.

We ordered the Eggs Benedict and Blueberry Pancakes, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It definitely lived up to the hype and exceeded our expectations. The Blueberry Pancakes were particularly delightful, and the Eggs Benedict was perfectly prepared.

Overall, Pumpkin Tales is a must-visit if you're looking for a great brunch experience or an authentic English breakfast in Chennai. With its excellent food, warm service, and wonderful ambience, it's a place I would happily visit again.

Friendly and courteous staff members and great food. You won’t regret trying this place out.

Ample parking - Valet available

We ordered congee (well done with the platter) , sourdough pizza (authentic sourdough)
, a starter called Piergo (must try) and their Oreo shake (includes boba) Around 2.2k which is very economical for the type of service, locality and quality of food.

Top notch and easily one of the best restaurants in chennai

Samyukdha Senthil Kumar01.11.2026

One of our regulars! The food is always wholesome and delicious. A little expensive but the quality of the food is great. Sunday brunch here is a must-have experience in Chennai, they have a diverse menu you can explore. Their salted caramel affogato is so so good, definitely try it.

Ondhu Foodie Travels01.11.2026

Pumpkin Tales in Chennai is surely one place you shouldn’t miss, what an amazing experience. The ambiance isn’t over the top but good enough, and the service was good too. We had the following while we were at Pumpkin Tales.

The iconic Pumpkin Soup, oh well has to be the most flavourful soup we have ever had in a really long time. Balinese Chicken Curry, anything that is coconut milk is usually top notch, and this too was top notch.

Tantanmen Ramen was another good main course, the broth was spicy, flavourful, and piping hot, just like how we wanted. The noodles was cooked perfectly, nice mix of protein as well. Chilli Fish and Peppers was our choice for appetiser, not much wow in it but tasty none the less.

Lastly it was the Baileys Tres Leches for dessert. Personally the Baileys was overwhelming but with each bite, it became little smoother. Pumpkin Tales is one of the top 50 places in the Conde Nast list and we just had to cover this place!

Aashanram Sayeeram01.11.2026

Really good food and service. We tried the Adobo Lamb and Singapore Laksi both great options and really fresh food. They took a long time to get us our juices but other than that their service was spot on.

basith ismail01.11.2026

Wow what a place. Good food good taste nice atmosphere. All is good. Their services all are awesome. I really liked it. I think its a reasonable price for the quantity they serve.

Priya Kannan01.11.2026

Had eyes on this for a special day. Except the pizza which didn't give a wow to me, rest everything we tried were drool worthy.
~Pumpkin soup is a must try! - extra pepper for the spice head.
~Tantanmen ramen chicken- loved it btw
~Pizza was chicken parmigiana - mid
~Sesame chicken bits - must try
Ambiance is good, work friendly and service was exceptional! The washroom is in 3rd floor and this in 2nd. So yeah that's something unsettling. Valet parking was there.

SUMIT SHARMA01.11.2026

Not the kind of experience we expected and here's why 👇🏻

#Food
After checking all the positive reviews we chose this place as our group preferred a mix of veg and non veg options for the lunch, however;

1. The veg options we ordered were way below average in taste and definitely not worth the money.
2. In the non veg, the sesame chicken bits was the only food we all liked over the noodles and fried rice that we ordered
3. Served quantity can definitely be improved or the prices can be reduced

Food wise rating: 2.5/5

Sesame Chicken Bits - 3.5/5
Garlic Sherry Mushroom - 1/5
Singapore Laksa - 2.5/5
Nasi Goreng Kampung - 2.5/5
Mushroom & Olive Pizza - 1.5/5

I would definitely not recommend this to vegetarian people in my honest opinion. A way lot to improve in terms of taste, which matters the mostttttt

#Service 4/5
- It is run mostly by female staffs and they are all attentive and the service was timely.
- Although we went with some delay over our reservation timing, we didn't had to wait for the table
- About 15-20 min of wait time for food

#Ambience
-good vibes & aesthetics
-fine locatly for an enriching crowd experience

#Parking
- Sufficient parking space for both 2 & 4 wheelers with valet parking available

Kapil Rai01.11.2026

Pumpkin Tales offers a wonderful start to the day, blending a charming atmosphere with a genuinely inviting breakfast spread.

The breakfast platter was beautifully presented, featuring a classic assortment of small roasted potatoes, blistered tomatoes, crispy bacon, baked beans, perfectly fried eggs, and savory mushrooms. While every component on the plate was well-prepared, the protein portion left me wishing for a bit more substance. The addition of a hearty sausage or a slightly more generous serving of bacon would have elevated this nice platter into an absolute standout.

The ambiance of the café is delightful—tastefully designed and perfect for a relaxed morning.

Offering decent value for money, Pumpkin Tales delivers a high-quality breakfast experience.

sherin Priyanga01.11.2026

It’s my go to favourite on weekends. I usually get the Vietnamese drip coffee which gives an extra kick start for the day and to go with that denver omlette such a good pair. Take your loved ones there and have a daayyyyyy🙃

Sruthi Pushpangadan01.11.2026

The place doesn’t have a very diverse range of options, but I still liked it. The food was good and the overall experience was pleasant. Definitely worth trying if you’re looking for a simple and satisfying meal.

J M01.11.2026

Dropped in for breakfast after an overnight train trip. Delicious food. Pleasantly surprised by the variety offered... Opted for the Harvest Green, which came as a bowl of goodness and warmth.

Kudos to the chefs who created it....

Excellent service by Longing and Sarika 💪🏻

Praveen Raj01.11.2026

Parking is a bummer if you're going in the weekends.

Best suggested day is Sunday - outdoor seating is nice 💯. Quality of the food and taste is awesome 👌🏻.

Travel Tales01.11.2026

Pumpkin Tales is a hidden gem in the city! 🍴 Despite being located in the midst of the hustle and bustle, the restaurant has managed to create a calm and cozy ambience that's perfect for a relaxing meal.

The food was enjoyable, but I felt that the taste was somewhat less compared to their other branch in Keppel One Paramount Porur. Hope they can work on maintaining consistency in taste.

Kudos to Ms. Sarika and Ms. Longing, the attentive waitresses who served us with love and care 💕. Their hospitality added a personal touch to the meal.

The VALLET Car Parking is a huge plus! No more parking panic, just pure relaxation 😊.

However, I do have a suggestion for improvement - the women's restroom was out of water, which was a bit inconvenient. I hope they can take care of this ASAP. Also, it would be great if they can maintain both the men's and women's restrooms equally well.

Viswanathan Kannan01.11.2026

I am very happy to have a great meal here and atmosphere was very calm and great. Food is so delicious, service was so amazing. But the onething upset me "SERVICE CHARGES" applied in the bill without our knowledge. I dont know why they added without our concern but even waterbottle prices are ok with us. Kindly let the guests know about the services charges. That would be great.

Sri A01.11.2026

Great place and service. Can get noisy... Popular with ladies. I would definitely recommend. The Sourdough bread from their bakery is wonderful.

Toshaan Harjai01.11.2026

Came back to this restaurant after 4 years, and the food was aa good as ever. The scones are arguably the best in the city. The eggs benedict are perfect. Coffee also hits the spot. The only downside was the pancakes which I felt were a miss. Overall, great breakfast experience

Vaishnavi Prasad01.11.2026

Been here multiple times, over several years and I find the quality of service and food to be consistently good.

Went on a Sunday afternoon at 3.30pm so it was easy to get a table.
I loved the pierogis. Absolutely delightful. I ordered a grilled chicken flatbread, but turns out it was just a 8 inch thin crust pizza, which felt strange because they also have pizzas on the menu 🤔

But the flatbread was delicious.

We also got the harissa chicken, and it was quite nice.

I had the milo Boba and while it was every bit amazing it arrived half hot half cold. And mixing it brought it to room temp, I would have enjoyed it so much more if it had been cold cold. The flavor was so good, an excellent drink made mediocre by temperature. As always Pumpkin Tales is a bit in the higher side - we paid 2500 for a pierogi, a flatbread, a harissa chicken, a Boba milo and a cold coffee. 2 starters, a main and 2 beverages - but I enjoyed myself

I will definitely be going back.

revanth munaga01.11.2026

Very good service by the staff and good atmosphere . Good taste and quality. Quantity of the food is less .

Rin01.11.2026

Place is easy to find, nice ambience and atmosphere. It's mostly a continental place with a variety of options. The service was fast and excellent, our host Long's service was commendable. My main issue is with the food. Everything tastes overly rich and doused in butter/truffle that you can hardly taste anything else. We ordered all vegetarian dishes so we can only speak to what those tased like. The soup, starter and the pasta we ordered all more or less started tasting the same, very coconut-y and extremely buttery. The drinks are decent, nothing to sing home about. Maybe their non vegetarian options are better but wrt to the food our experience was a tad below average.

Padmavathy Asokan01.11.2026

We had avery good dining experience, with delicious food that was clearly prepared with great attention to detail. Each dish was not only flavorful but also presented beautifully, reflecting a high standard of culinary skill. Additionally, the staff were courteous and attentive, providing warm and professional service that enhanced the overall experience. Pumpkin soup and Mushroom soup were so flavour full.
Hummus was excellent and so authentic. Almost every dish we tried was great ❤️and so were the prices😅

Varun Alagar01.11.2026

Great food. Went for the Christmas lunch. Have been here for the same menu a few times before. Excellent menu, delicious food, friendly staff and lovely time at the restaurant. On crowded days like the Christmas week it would be a bit busy and overwhelming for the staff thereby delays in food order are to be expected. The place is very good for breakfast as well. Definitely a good spot for breakfast, lunch or brunch.

Stephen S01.11.2026

You want to experience real singaporeian cuisine this is must visit..
Staff to chef..everyone outplayed the best..beautiful ambiance and over all enjoyed..

FoodForThought01.11.2026

I stumbled upon Pumpkin Tales in Alwarpet by chance and decided to try it for dinner — and it turned out to be a wonderful find. The pumpkin soup was the perfect start, creamy, comforting, and full of flavor. Pierogi for starters was delicious. For main course, Thai green curry with rice tasted authentic with beautifully balanced spices, and the mushroom pasta was rich, hearty, and absolutely amazing. Lot of veg and vegan options.

They also have a great ice cream and desserts section, which I’m looking forward to exploring on my next visit. Overall, a great spot with delicious food — would definitely come again.

A B01.11.2026

A cute little place with great food. Super slow service, even though the restaurant had barely 4 tables occupied.

Jerin John01.11.2026

We visited Pumpkin Tails at Alwarpet, Chennai for breakfast, and it was a fantastic experience. We ordered the Turkish eggs, shakes, Eggs Benedict, and the grilled cheese sandwich with chicken, and everything was top-notch. The service was excellent, probably helped by the fact that we went early in the morning when the place was mostly empty. I have to give a special mention to the bread that came with the Turkish eggs, it was so fresh and tasted amazing. I’m definitely planning to go back soon to try their lunch and dinner menu!

Sooraj Kumar01.11.2026

It's located at a calm location at Alwarpet
Made a prior booking before dining in for Lunch

The ambience was good but it was too crowded and it was lacking the ventilation expected

The people working there were mostly all North east women and they were all friendly and well behaved

The menu was fair but the prices very too high for the quantity

Taste was good

Fresh desserts were available but they were also over priced

Ground floor had their bakery , they had fresh breads. Once again , they were priced exquisitely high

Vallet parking was available thankfully

Indrashish Bhattacharyya01.11.2026

I have had multiple meals at the pumpkin tales and their other establishment : zhouyu near Alwarpet and i can say hands down these are 2 of the best places to eat when you are in Chennai.
(Both the restaurants are in the same building.)

I feel the food you serve is a reflection of who you are and your outlook towards life and when i talked to the owner of the establishment and experienced the food i was simply spellbound.

She runs the place with all her heart and the food speaks for itself. She knows what she is doing and has a clear plan.
For starters (not food) , both the restaurants are landmarks for women empowerment and have an all woman staff and they are meticulous, experts in their craft, extremely friendly and make sure even during peak hours the place is run with absolute ease.
Coming to the food, the must tries are :
The mayan cacao ( excellent for coffee lovers)
The thai curry
Sesame chicken bits
Crispy prawn balls (at zhouyu)
Roast chicken (at zhouyu)
Nasi goreng
Mee goreng
Panuozzo sandwich ( add the birria lamb)
Biang biang noodles ( at zhouyu)
Hainan claypot chicken rice (at zhouyu)

Yes, the food might be a little costly but with the taste, the service and the overall experience its worth it without a doubt.

The dishes are simple, elegant and the flavours are on point.

Do try the ice cream options they have.
The cookies and cream is a clear winner.
The chocolate and coffee flavours are excellent as well.

Not every place is perfect but what matters is your strive for excellence.
Believe in progress over perfection and both the pumpkin tales and zhouyu are seasoned campaigners of this food journey and they are doing a damn good job.

A MUST VISIT FOR FOOD LOVERS.
P.S (for the owner) : i will surely bring mangoes for you next time.

Venu Gopal Nair01.11.2026

It's always the little details that must be taken care of. People sitting in a restaurant have the time to notice. They may be engaged in conversations but they know a good place when they are in one.

The service at Pumpkin Tales is warm with smiles flowing as easily as the water into glasses. The contrasts in the seating, the buzz of conversation and the lights make this a place you want to soak in.

Most of the food is freshly prepared, so it does take some time to be served. And plating the dish with all its ingredients does take time. And that ensures the visual appeal of the dishes is enhanced. As well as the aticipation when it arrives at your table. In fact, a 'mixing' of some of the dishes is offered, and the ceremony adds to the appetite!

There was a time when only the taste mattered. But we've now got to the point where several restaurants can make food taste good. But we've also become a lot less forgiving of bland presentations, especially when the prices are higher.

The open seating and the way the pastries are arranged at one end of the restaurant does enhance the appeal. And probably brings those who try to fight the temptations to feast their eyes on the offerings before they make a decision.

The placement of potted plants behind the wide glass windows also blocks out most of the bland urban profiles.

And just in case you think all these photographs are taken at one meal, they aren't. This was a long-delayed review and the addition of four breaksfast dishes did round off the experience from several visits. Valet parking is available butit must be quite a job to get all those cars which arrive to fit into the available spaces.

Adishri Anand01.11.2026

I had ordered a Greek bowl (take away) every day for the last one week, either on Swiggy or directly from the restaurant. They have forgotten some part of the bowl EVERDAY (one day it’s the feta, one day it’s the tzatziki) and when I called to complain about it, no one could be bothered. I usually make it a point to never give a one star rating but I am writing this review because I truly enjoy the food at pumpkin tales and it’s a shame to see it fall so far down the ladder. I hope the owners read this and find a solution to the problem.

Editing my review because I went back yesterday and was thrilled to see pumpkin tales in full form. We got the chicken wings, cherry mushrooms, roast chicken and falafel bowl. Needless to say the food was excellent and the service fantastic (shoutout to Deity for taking care of us). I’d be hard pressed to pick a favourite dish because they were all SO good and I’m looking forward to working my way down the menu :P
I should also mention that we did sit in compared to last weeks orders that were all take away or delivery.

AweSumi01.11.2026

Love the place, the food, the ambience and the service! Been visiting for years. Especially love the extensive vegan menu 😍. Thank you for so many positive experiences, PT ! :)

Pics of Kashmiri Kahwa, Grilled Corn, Plant Pizza 🍕 & Vegan Cheesecake 😍

My Sunday evening visit to this Italian restaurant around 6:30-7 PM was absolutely delightful! The ambiance is lovely, with soft, inviting interiors that perfectly capture the essence of an Italian eatery.

One of the biggest perks, especially in Chennai, is their valet parking service – it made the start of our evening so much smoother.

We began with the Mushroom Soup, which was incredibly delicious and served promptly, with a perfect portion size for one person. Next, the Baby Corn starter was a standout, featuring a wonderful lemongrass infusion and a perfectly creamy sauce. While the quantity for starters might be a bit less for two, the taste more than made up for it. The pizza we ordered was truly amazing, with perfectly flavored sauces and a generous serving.

The restaurant is impeccably maintained, right down to the very clean washroom on the third floor.

Overall, we had an amazing time. The staff were exceptionally good and responsive, enhancing our experience. We also appreciated the 15% discount through Zomato, making it even more value for money.

To the restaurant owners, please extend my sincere thanks to the chefs – the food was incredibly tasty! This is definitely one of the best places to dine in Chennai, and I highly recommend it!

Rose Vazquelero01.11.2026

The writer of tales wandered into Pumpkin Tales, and what unfolded felt like stepping into a story of my own. I think I have finally found my writing haven and food paradise in one place.

Thank you Deity for such good service, wonderful experience and the warmth. The food and the flavours, the atmosphere everything felt crafted with care.

I highly recommend visiting. It’s worth it.

shikhar chopra01.11.2026

I recently dined here but unfortunately the food was just okay. The entire menu feels overpriced and doesn't align with the quality or portion sizes provided. Having explored many other cafes and restaurants in Chennai I know there are far better options that offer superior food at a much more justifiable price point. Overall the experience just didn't feel worth the cost.

Shriya Srivatsan01.11.2026

Good space with parking, they have a dessert bar on the same floor as the restaurant and downstairs as well (makes it easier for takeaways). The staff was nice and courteous.
Food was average as well (if you're vegetarian) they had better quality of taste and spread for non vegetarians. The prices are a tad bit high but it's understood with the specialty of food made.
Good spread otherwise but they can improve on customer relation, ambiance, and quality of food.

Dr.S.Vijayalakshmi Sivakumar01.11.2026

My first visit turned out to be really satisfactory. Pumpkin soup was awesome. The veg dumpling starter was too good. Then I went for Bibimbap and it was ok. The festive hot chocolate was a little too sweet. On the whole the service, portion and food was a double tick for me.

Ratish S01.11.2026

Great place and great food. Good ambiance too and the service is good. There's ample parking for 4-wheeler. The place can get crowded, so better to block appointment on the weekends. They also have a bakery that serves different breads and dishes. One who loves English breakfast should definitely try the place. Moderately expensive but worth the money.

Devika R Krishnan01.11.2026

Had a great experience dining at Pumpkin Tales. This is my 4th time here, but this time for breakfast. They've a good variety breakfast options to choose from. The food was delicious and well presented. The portion sizes are a tad bit too much for one person, so order accordingly _ otherwise you’ll have an overfilled tummy by the time you leave 😁

Arunprasath Viswanathan01.11.2026

We went for dinner on Friday. Ambience was good but a wash basin on the same floor would be nice since we had to go up 2 floors for hand wash.
I liked the pierogi very much especially for the chile oil side dish. I have been trying dumpling in different hotels of Chennai but almost all hotels serve chutney kind of side dish. If normal steamed dumpling(without cheese) is served here, this would be all time favourite place for dumplings. Hoping to see it soon in menu soon.

Pumpkin soup (coconut based cream) and cream of mushroom soup were also good.

Zat'ar bread with hummus bread was ok.

Vegan pizza was blunt but my kid liked it.

Chocolate cake was average taste.
Vallet parking available. Price was bit higher.

Saravanan moorthy01.11.2026

We recently visited Pumpkin Tales, Alwarpet for our team outing with a group of 16 people, and it was an amazing experience! The place has a great vibe for team gatherings and the ambiance is warm and welcoming.
The food was absolutely fantastic — every dish we tried was delicious and beautifully presented. The menu has a great variety, and you can really taste the quality and freshness in their dishes. Everything we ordered was a hit with the entire team.
The staff were very friendly and handled a large group like ours very smoothly, making sure we were comfortable throughout. Overall, it was a wonderful outing with great food, great service, and a perfect atmosphere for a team get-together.
Highly recommend Pumpkin Tales for group outings and anyone looking for amazing food in Alwarpet!

Newton Raja01.11.2026

We friends had a get together. To see off a friend leaving for Chicago. Firstly, sincere appreciation to all the staff in the restaurant. They operate like a team supporting each other and giving a lovely experience, to the guests. The service is exceptional.

Very good ambience.

Loved the food quality. The taste buds just crave for more. Hats off to the chefs who make this magic happen.

We had a good time. Thanks.

Project bliss01.11.2026

Very good food and service. The only issue was with the quantity and price. Just 4 dishes cost us 3000 rs but the quantity was very less. The soup was 200rs, we asked for 1/2 like we usually do, they said it already is 1/2. So we bought two. Even the quantity of one soup is really less. It was more like 1/4.

Bharath Kumar01.11.2026

Best place for fine dining. Loved overall experience. Best was their vegan pizza (haven't had anything this good so far) each dish was done with almost perfection which you could feel it from the taste. Staffs were polite and explains very well to our asks. Definitely coming back again to try new things from the menu.

REJU SKARIA01.11.2026

Upmarket Fusion restaurant. Superb service. The food was amazing. I loved the Thai Green Curry with Jasmine rice. Pumpkin soup was yummy. Burmese Shan Noodles had a unique taste and the staff mixed the ingredients well. Top notch. Expensive though, but worth it. Will visit again soon.

Second visit. Continues to amaze. But smoothie was too watery though

Vijay Verghis01.11.2026

Pumpkin Tales in Chennai offers a memorable culinary experience with a vibrant ambiance. The Green Power Smoothie and Breakfast Smoothie were refreshing, providing a perfect balance of health and taste. The Sweet Potato Cake starter was a delightful surprise, with a perfect blend of sweetness and texture. The vegan Focaccia Slab Sandwich was the highlight, it was really fresh with flavorful ingredients and a hearty, satisfying taste. The restaurant's is warm and cozy atmosphere, makes it an ideal spot for a relaxed meal. They can improve on their service and bit. A must-visit for those who appreciate quality food.

Manasvini Sethuraman01.11.2026

I went to this place for breakfast on a Thursday morning. It wasn't crowded, and service was reasonably fast. I got the vegan bagel breakfast with roasted veggies and potatoes on the side. The plate also came with a side of fruits. Everything was fresh and tasted delicious. The cappuccino was also good. The staff were courteous and the place had generally chill vibes.

Srividhya C01.11.2026

I went to Pumpkin tales on Christmas day as a group of 4. Although the non-vegetarian feast options were exciting(and I was told that they were excellent), the vegetarian feast option of lasagna with veggies and cranberries didn't appeal to the vegetarians in the group including me. So, we ended up ordering the following items off their menu:

1) Tofu satay
2) Mee Goreng with tofu and eggs
3) Tantanmen Ramen with jammy eggs
4) Singapore laksa with shiitake mushroom and tofu.

Of these four items, I liked the tofu satay and mee goreng noodles.

Overall, the food we ordered was on the saltier and greasier side. I probably won't go back due to the pricier nature and the reasons mentioned above.
