Cafe Madeline

My mom and I really enjoy this cafe. The portions are good and the menu has a big selection. It’s a little cramped inside sometimes, but there’s always seats. I see people working on their laptops. They have a back room with more tables too. Coffee is good too!

Not sure why I haven't written a review for this place, as I've been coming here for at least a year now and have never had a bad experience.

Their food is top notch. My favorite's gotta be the Grilled Cheese Omelette. Everything on the menu is a tiny bit pricier than most places, but as soon as you see the food you'll understand why. Everything tastes amazing and their plating is on another level.

As far as coffee goes, their cold brew is super solid, but I recommend trying the Macadamia Latte—hot or iced—with just a little agave.

The best part about this place is that it's huge, beautiful, and bright. It gets busy but there's almost always one or two seats up for grabs, and plenty of places to plug in if you need to charge up your phone or use your laptop. It's a great place to sit down for a while and get some work done.

Nice cafe with good food. Thought it was a bit overpriced for the area but at least the portions were good and the food was tasty. Everyone was happy with their meals.

It was crazy crowded and busy on a Saturday, but our food came surprisingly quickly and we were able to snag a table. I wish they didn't allow laptop workers on the weekends as about a third of the people here we're taking up lots of space just on the laptops.

I also think they could do better with labeling vegetarian/vegan options so people don't have to pester staff with questions.

But all and all it's a nice place for a coffee or brunch.

Cute place with casual upbeat vibe. Designer fun furniture , friendly staff, delicious looking and tasting food. The bowls are of a good portion filled with delicious protein. Mostly locals from neighbourhood, good mix of customers— singles with laptop, couples on date, strollers mom (as proof, they have high chair lol). Has outdoor and indoor seats (But no one check vaccine status for you to dine indoor when I walked in today). Def will be back if in the area.

I got the rose latte to sit-in. I didn’t like that it was in a to-go coffee cup. It should be in a cute ceramic cup to match the aesthetic vibe. Music was also too loud, i would not want to sit there for a prolonged time with my laptop.

Worth it if you are in the neighborhood or from the neighborhood. In my case, I was visiting. Way more spacious than it seems, laptop friendly, and yes the food, service are great - actually a lot better than I had expected.

Great coffee shop. Very busy. Long lines. Lots of tables. Additional seating area in the back. Very good for working on laptop with free wifi although not the fastest. Only 1 restroom.

We ordered from here through door dash and there was a caterpillar in my salad, safe to say we starved the rest of the night because working overnights there's not many places open after a certain time and threw out our entire $70 order because that is absolutley disgusting. Waiting for our refund.

My go-to weekend cafe. Good menu variety, cozy, reliable wifi. Gets crowded but you can usually find a seat.

Cozy neighborhood cafe with co-working space in the back. The food is fresh, locally sourced and delicious. Coffee and tea are a cut above the rest.

I often stop here for a coffee and a pastry on my way to the train. It's a little pricey but everything I've tried has been SO GOOD! Their cinnamon buns are legit some of the best I've ever had. I really like the lemon pound cake as well. Not to mention the staff is always friendly and seem like they really enjoy working there, which is a rare joy to see. Even when there's a long line at the counter (which there often is!) it moves quickly. The hot food I see people having at the tables all looks amazing too, although I haven't had a sit-down meal here yet. This is easily one of my favorite places in the neighborhood so I'll definitely be back to try those too.

I love this place but it's way too expensive for what they're giving you.

Like all places in New York they want 20% plus tip but it's mostly self-service. You order at the counter you get your own water. You pick up your own coffee but they do bring you your food.
No one asked you how your food is.
This is the capitalism dilemma of over tipping because you care versus feeling like you're getting ripped off for no service.

It's loud, It's often very loud.
Probably acoustics and just being busy but if that's a deal breaker. Sometimes it's the music, but I wouldn't want to deprive the people work there. Their Joy.

Yes, it’s expensive - but this is the best pastry & brunch spot in the area, hands down. The service is also really nice, the wifi is fast, and they always have a good playlist on!

The food is great and always consistent! I recommend the one-hander with eggs and bacon!! But sigh... This is usually one of my favorite spots but I went there last night and the staff was a little lukewarm and then passive-aggressive. I met with a client during the last hour of service, as I have had other work-from-home sessions there. Typically I have no problem, but noticed when I first walked in the cashier was pretty cold and then had a "hurry up" energy when I was trying to order. There were only 2 other individuals (also Black) there, so they weren't busy. Then some patrons ordered and left. All of a sudden the staff started blasting music. It was a bit weird because the two remaining customers were working. I'm all for having fun at work, but I politely asked if they could turn it down as I picked up my food because we were having to yell. Then 10-15 minutes before closing they started blasting the music again even louder and we took that as a sign to wrap it up. Just say you're closing... no need for all that. I also wanted to try their lemonades because that was the first time I saw all those flavors on the menu and it was around $8 and some change for a regular-size cup lol. I would give it a 7/10 though. They also didn't have A/C running, just the door open. It's June in Brooklyn, so keep that in mind if you run warm. It was sad because typically this has always been a great spot to visit over the years... not sure if it was because we came an hour before closing but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Their service has never been extremely great (typical for BK/NYC), but this just made us feel a few microaggressions. Weird experience.

Madeline has been through some changes over the past six years that I have been in the neighborhood. All mostly great (thankfully I don't smoke anymore but the perch outside used to be such a great place to be and greet the neighbors as they walked by. I do miss that.) But some of us are still in the hood and I am definitely appreciative of the great food and drink (non-alcoholic as well as caffeinated and decaffeinated hot and cold beverages).

A very creative menu makes for endless possibilities. Also, I'm gluten free and the options have really expanded - also greatly appreciated.

Also, as a side note, there's one guy who's been working there through all of the changes (the only one that I can tell) and it makes me happy to see that through the ownership changes, at least one employee stayed. Something about that tells me the owners are decent. One can hope anyways. Viva la Small Business!

I like Cafe Madeline mostly because they're a coffice and there aren't many cafes like that around this part of town.

I think the food ordering process is a little overwhelming and messy as you have to order by the counter, pick up your coffee right there but then they bring the food to you wherever you're sitting.

There's usually a line to order but the menus are at the register so you actually have to wait till you get there before checking out the menu. Which means making everyone wait for you to figure out what you might want to eat.

I am a fan of the crispy Eggs platter and the French plate. Both Super solid and healthy breakfast option. I also love their fresh squeezed juices.

They are a little overpriced but I assume it incorporates the fact that a lot of people end up working there for hours without ordering anything.

I think occasionally the staff may have a little attitude but I think if the ordering process might change, they might be less overwhelmed.

Delicious food, relaxed comfy airy family-friendly and laptop-friendly space. However, a bit on the pricey side and usually a super long wait. They have an online app now, though, to place your order ahead of time.

The best cafe in the neighborhood! Cafe Madeline has the warmest, coziest atmosphere. Their orange juice is to die for- their orange press sits directly behind the registers so you can watch them make your cup of freshly squeezed orange juice. The ABC sandwich is one of the best things on the menu- ask for a substitution of an everything bagel and it is SOOOO good. The eggs are fluffy, the bacon is thick cut and meaty, and the cute garnishment of cucumber and pomegranate seeds are pretty and delicious.
If you like to work on your laptop in cafes, check out the back room which is loaded with outlets. They have free wifi :)

Their phone is off, they don’t read the notes you leave and we’ve received two incorrect orders this week. What a mess. Just because there aren’t many places around that are similar doesn’t mean you shouldn’t prepare what people order and pay for. Will be finding breakfast alternatives. Also, not have internet a working phone is sketchy.

I've been coming here for while to do paperwork. the wifi is free and food is fresh and delicious. A great place for Teas as well. awesome staff...definitely worth a stop! love it here😍

Sine first day I came to Cafe Madeline I liked the place. It has all I need from coffee a local place where I can spend couple hours working in a different atmosphere. Recommended checking it out.

Wow, what a lil gem on Cortelyou Rd and overall in that part of a Brooklyn. With space to seat, great coffee and food my go to place to take a break, sit with my laptop for work or just charge my escooter while sipping coffee and kids sipping their hot Belgium chocolate

The place is upscale, but the listed telephone number is non working, and that's a hige problem when a potential customer has questions. This needs to be addressed immediately.

They have a big menu, everything looks good but I actually only tried the cold brew and biscuit. Def want to come back for the vibes. (Ps no wifi)
