My friend and I were looking for a place where we could sit and talk over coffee, not with beer or anything around 6pm, which was very difficult to find and Doiwe Egbert Cafe was perfect!
Baristas were lovely and spoke perfect English. I was very happy with a variety of milk that they have.
Lots of space, tables with outlet to change a phone or laptop. I think it’s perfect for students or digital nomads to get work done!
The place is cozy and has alot of space, they have big tables if you want to work with your laptop. You can see the menu, order and paid using QR code on your table. It is very convenient.
I came here last Friday to work on my laptop and everything was perfect. The ice cappuccino tasted very delicious and the staff was very social and friendly. This café also has many beautiful corners to sit and the atmosphere is very cozy. I recommend 100%.
The €1,80 per hour for working there is absolutely ridiculous.
Edit: Yes, even with the first hour being free after ordering something, it’s still equally ridiculous. Would come here regularly to work (and have one of those overly expensive coffees, yep, crazy right), but haven’t returned one single time since the introduction of that fee.
I used to love coming here, but the service is so awful! It's a nice place, but otherwise, it's like a fast-food restaurant. You order via a QR code. However, items are often missing from the menu. While you can order them at the bar, don't expect them to bring them to your table. No, you get a pager and have to walk up two flights of stairs yourself. What kind of service is that?! And the prices are so high (€4.65 for a regular coffee). Now, you have to pay €1.80 per hour if you're working on a laptop. Finally, the tables and chairs are extremely dirty. They rarely clear and clean everything, even when you receive your order. See photos. What a shame for this beautiful place!
Cup of tea with fresh ginger is great!!!!! Comfortable sofa on the terrace, lots of possibilities inside for working (laptop), among other things.
Perfect place to come alone or with friends for a cup of coffee with a sandwich or treat. You can sit here and chat comfortably, but you can also certainly grab your laptop and work pleasantly.
Nice location and good coffee. Great opportunity to work on a laptop.
Tip: if the glasses or cups for a latte or cappuccino were warm, the coffee would be warmer and even tastier 😊
After studying here for a while, this place has fallen to the ground for me. Time and again, the drink prices were raised, which I can understand. But now I've also been told that you can only use a laptop if you're also going to pay extra per hour. This is a ridiculous reason. I can understand that you have to order something to sit there, but paying an hourly rate for a place that calls itself a living room just doesn't sit well with me. When I tried to discuss this, I was told this is because Douwe Egberts is the only place where you're still allowed to study and that this is the new rule.
All in all, Douwe Egberts has become increasingly commercial, and it no longer feels welcoming to be there and relax.
The food was delicious and, of course, great coffee. We did notice that there were a lot of people with laptops, which didn't exactly make it more inviting.
Ordering by scanning a QR code was easy, though. The order was also served quickly.
I went there a couple of days ago for lunch. The place looks pleasant, bright, and modern; the chairs are comfortable, the coffees taste good, and it also seems like a perfect spot to study or work with a laptop.
However, the wait was on the long side (for the food as well as for the coffee we ordered at the counter); there were quite a lot of people and, I believe, not that many staff. Because it took quite a while, I noticed that the guests behind me in the line started complaining about the wait, which doesn't really improve the atmosphere.
Perhaps you could deploy more staff during busy times so that both coffee machines are operated?
A beautiful-looking DE Café! I worked here for a day. That is what the upper floors are set up for, and I can say that it is a pleasant place to work. Good wifi, table service via online ordering. The styling and location are also spot on.
On the downside: really dirty toilets; they weren't cleaned the entire day I was there. I also had to wait a long time for my order at the entrance (10 minutes).
Despite the prices being absurdly high (a cup of tea almost 5 euros), I still found it a nice place to study. However, you now have to pay an hourly fee to be allowed to sit there with your laptop....
I really enjoyed coming here since it opened, but recently you have to pay 1.80 per hour to sit there with your laptop. And that's even though prices have already gone up significantly and the staff isn't even very friendly. On to another place.
A very nice café for studying and working. You can order at the counter or via the QR code, and your order is brought to you right away. There are plenty of spots with power outlets and also free Wi-Fi. The only downsides are that it is often dirty and messy, and the food is also very disappointing. It tastes like it was prepared days ago. The drinks are on the pricey side, but the café is in a prime location and you have a really cool view from the top floor.
Tasty coffee, good seating location also for working with a laptop, power is available everywhere. Nice view of the marketplace.
Good coffee and plenty of it.
It's a real shame you now have to pay €1.80 an hour if you come here to work with your laptop. I used to like coming here, but now I don't.
Good location to pick up something, have a drink or work on your laptop
