Decent coffee. Good Chocolate Lava Cake. Other items were passable. The decor could have been more vibrant. Maybe it was because we went there with great expectations, considering the other reviews, Sandy's was good but not spectacular.
I never thought I'd have to conduct a forensic investigation on a plate of fries, but here we are.
I visited Sandy's for lunch with friends and ordered what should have been the least controversial item on the menu, a plate of fries. When it arrived, the portion looked unusually small. Curious, I asked the manager how much a serving was supposed to be. He confidently said 180 gms.
Since the portion clearly didn't look anywhere close to that, I requested that it be weighed. To my surprise (and perhaps not theirs), the fries weighed just 100 grams. That's barely over half of what I was told I was paying for.
What disappointed me wasn't even the missing 80 gms, it was the response. Instead of acknowledging the mistake or offering a simple apology, responsibility was passed around. Another staff member then claimed the 180 grams referred to the fries before frying. That's an interesting and bizzare explanation, cause we customers order fries to eat, not frozen potatoes.
In the service industry, mistakes happen. Everyone understands that. What customers expect is honesty, accountability, and a sincere "We're sorry, we'll fix it." Instead, I was met with excuses and a complete unwillingness to take ownership.
Sandy's Chocolate Laboratory in Nungambakkam is a good spot for chocolate lovers, especially if you enjoy rich desserts and pastries. Their chocolate pastries were really good and definitely worth trying. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which added to the experience.
The place is more about the desserts than the ambience, so it’s not particularly photogenic, but it’s still a nice stop if you’re craving good chocolate-based treats.
We went there to get some brunch and also for a quite space to get some work done. U think this is the only place in this locality with such ambience. Their hot chocolate is top notch. We dipped our bread from the English breakfast in hot chocolate. It was so indulgent. Everything we had ordered were prepared well. Will definitely put this place in our list for a peaceful cafe to work at. Kudos!
The food and ambience are too good. Their hot chocolate and cappuccino are perfect.
Frequent haunt when I visit Chennai.. Food is always great.
Laid back atmosphere ..
One in Nungambakkam is not crowded.. Chill vibes..
Service could be improved slightly, for eg. Setting up water and tissues on table, following up on order. Some of these points to a scope to elevate their service.
That said one of the better cafes in the city so I still choose this everytime....
This was a friend suggested places, just had a takeaway of tiny cake shake, it was wonderful and planning to dine in soon to explore more
Their hot chocolate is rich and smooth, and the desserts are beautifully crafted with intense flavors.
Steak was good!
The cozy ambiance and friendly staff make it a must-visit.
If you love chocolate, this spot won’t disappoint!
Highly recommended!
Excellent
Classic 3 egg Omelette Toast 5/5
Mushroom Omelette 5/5
Masala Omelette 5/5
Sandy's Breakfast Plate 5/5
Benny's Slam Chicken Bacon 5/5
Grilled Sausage 5/5
Cappuccino 4/5
I had Thai yellow curry and Tiny Cake 4.0
And both are damn delicious, the cake is definitely not tiny, but ofcouse when it's that delicious it can feel tiny
Good food, had to wait till 10 AM (1 hour) as they were doing the monthly pest removal treatment. The smell was lingering around for hours.
Everything but the pasta was great, I think the sauce was burnt or the chicken was.
The other items were legendary! Would visit again!
Visited this place recently just for desserts. I ordered Sandy's Indulgent Hot Chocolate and Milo Tiramisu. The hot chocolate truly lived up to its name, it was rich, thick, and absolutely delicious. The Milo Tiramisu, on the other hand, didn’t quite impress me, I've had better. Also, I found it a bit too sweet for my taste, though my friend really enjoyed it, so I’d say it depends on your personal preference. The café was almost empty during my visit, which made it peaceful. I’m definitely planning to go back and try their pastas and other items from the menu next time. Overall, it’s a nice spot to unwind, especially if you’re craving some indulgent treats.
It's a paradise for those with a sweet tooth. The menu is filled with indulgent chocolate shakes and hot chocolates. I'm particularly fond of their Biscoff hot chocolate and signature milk chocolate shake. Their pastas are incredibly creamy and delicious. Visited this place numerous times and each visit included either a hot chocolate or a chilled milkshake, depending on Chennai's weather.
My experience was quite shocking.. About the ambience, there were flies lingering over our food where we were seated, near the door. We were shifted to another table then.
While eating we found small cockroaches running over that table. When we complained, they casually came and wiped it off using a tissue!
The restroom had overflowing bin with tissues lying out of it.
The food was average. Brownie and hot chocolate drinks were extremely sweet
We happened to cross here because the rest of the cafes were super busy and it was the best decision ever .
I tried their veg roasted lasagna and it was divine, they were able to make the vegetables delicious (from a non vegetarian 😆). It had some sort of cream or cheese on top and that put it all together 🤌🏻. I bet that I'll choose this over the chicken dishes every time😺.
For dessert, I chose ' can't make up my mind'(because I really can't) and it was amazing. It had this cookie dough as the base and the cheesecake filling with brownies and who knew they would go soo well together but the chocolate cake that we tried wasn't our favourite though....it had this fresh cream filling that just didn't suit us( was expecting some dense chocolate filling). The service was pretty good and the whole vibe of the place was so good that it could contribute to your mental well-being.
Went to Sandy's for dessert on a weekday evening and it and found it rather empty. The approach road from Wallace Garden 2nd street was closed due to metro work and Khader Nawaz Khan road was also closed as it was fully dug up. We had to go all the way round then and enter through Thousand Lights - pretty inconvenient and that's probably why Sandy's is losing customers.
Coming to the dessert, it was worth all the effort and delectable as always. We ordered a Nutella Hot Chocolate Fudge Sundae and it was quite a task finishing it - boy, was it heavy, but out of this world!! We also ordered a Milo Tiramisu, which was pretty average actually, but all in all a decent experience.
Sandy's Chocolate Laboratory in Nungambakkam is a chocolate haven offering a delightful range from classic hot chocolate to innovative savory treats. The cozy ambiance, coupled with exceptional service, creates a perfect setting for indulging in their rich, decadent desserts. Not only desserts and chocolate items ....they have pure Italian variety dishes. The lasagne and pork beef were top notch .Pricey yet premium. Must-tries include their moist chocolate cakes and the over-the-top chocolate overload with caramel coating .
Overall i feel the place is a bit hyped up. Decently tasting desserts but they are definetly super creative with the colorful menu and attractive names 😂 attracting us to try dishes even with the high prices. So over all its a decent place, pricey for the quantity given. Pleasant vibe.
Had a great experience at Sandy's Chocolate Laboratory! We tried the Tiny Chocolate 4.0, Chicken Hot Dog, and Onion Rings—everything was delicious.
Tiny Chocolate 4.0: Rich, indulgent, and a must-try for chocolate lovers.
Overall, the food quality was excellent, the ambiance was pleasant, and it's definitely a place I'd visit again. Highly recommended for both desserts and snacks
Great place to have a relaxed brunch / lunch with friends. Very pleasant staff and all the food is great. The pasta dishes are especially good. Their ice tea is one of the best I've had - not overly sweet and comes in a cute beaker. Overall it's a simple setup with a very casual and easy-going vibe. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Beef steak sandwich was utterly disappointing to say the least. Bread used looked very similiar to cheap modern bread and the steak was not well done. Spaghetti carbonara was mediocre at best. Food is extremely overpriced. Safe to say i won’t be dining here again
I have heard so much about this cafe, yet all that hype was totally in vain. The cafe served the most basic food. One one or two staff were professional, rest were not able to help us out as to what to order. The place was so noisy. Atmosphere was okay and plain, nothing eye catching. This cafe has not impressed me. Would not count it as the best cafe's in Chennai .
Sandy's at Nungambakkam, has a good seating capacity and has music grooving in the background. They had a normal seating area with not so vibing or attractive ambience, it was just like a normal cafe.
The service was good and I couldn't complain about anything on that. The staff were quick to call and were very responsive.
What we had?
1. Chilli beef
2. Onion rings
3. Cheese garlic bread
4. Spaghetti arrabiata pasta
5. Cajun spiced grilled chicken
6. Cappuccino
7. Milo tiramisu
The food and quantity were good but the food was a bit expensive. The taste was good but the cheese garlic bread could have been better. A good experience to dine in, will visit them again to try out other dishes in their menu.
I had very high expectations when I ordered from Sandy’s Chocolate Laboratory, as I had always heard glowing reviews about them. Unfortunately, my first experience was extremely disappointing.
I ordered the almond croissant through delivery, eager to finally try it — but what I received was limp, stale-tasting, and honestly lacked the freshness, texture, and quality one would expect from a place with Sandy’s reputation. It was a huge letdown.
It’s very disheartening when such a well-regarded brand fails to maintain quality, especially for online orders. Not everyone can visit the store in person, and delivery should not mean compromised standards.
This was my first order, and I genuinely hoped to become a regular customer — but after this experience, I am left with nothing but disappointment. I truly hope Sandy’s takes this feedback seriously and ensures their products meet the same quality standard across dine-in and delivery.
Pork ribs and Beef Burger was amazing. Went for a late lunch and it was still a busy place buzzing with customers. Service was pretty fast (15 minutes approx) but taste and quantity was good.
Had visited here a couple of months back with family and had a great time and the experience and food are still fresh in my mind.
The food was so good albeit a bit on the expensive side and so were the drinks and the chocolate cake was to die for.
Has limited parking and the place was a bit crowded.Great place to go if you are looking to impress your date.
The manager was very rude. We were a party of 5. We ordered 2 dishes for desert.
After that, he made a very rude face and asked that’s it? Suggesting that we hadn’t ordered enough.
It was late at night and we just wanted to grab a small bite. Him suggesting that made us feel very uncomfortable.
This wasn’t the first time, I faced a similar situation with him a few weeks ago
I visited Sandy's Chocolate Laboratory twice yet dined only once. First time I got turned down as they were cleaning up from the audit a day before. The next Sunday I signed up for a breakfast date at Sandy's.
The ambience is decent, few options of comfortable seating, and minimal decor. The overall menu looked interesting to look along with the menu items on offer. I fixed up a Market Plate, which was essentially a poached egg on sourdough crouton / toast, which also comes with avocado, a variation of Eggs Benedict. They initially refused to serve as they do not have avocado in season, but I requested that it is ok to serve it without that and they kindly obliged.
I also picked up Sandy's signature house made cold coffee that arrived quickly.
I wasn't not so lucky with the version of Eggs Benedict that I ordered out of the menu. It took ages to arrive, yet it looked disappointingly dark, completely with burnt edges on what might have been a sourdough slice. Politely sent it back and they promised to correct it and the rightly toasted version did arrive quicker than the burnt one.
It was a decent version, the sourdough was a good replacement to english muffins, good crunch, but what I did not prefer was the hollandaise sauce after being poured on the poached egg, was somehow toasted and was dry. It is a serving style in SMOOR, Bangalore too, but I personally do not prefer it. This classic french sauce has to be runny and collaborate well with the runny yolk and create a beautiful texture and flavour on the plate. I did share the feedback with the staff to ensure this serving style is corrected. But I must say, I was extremely happy with the poached egg, it was simply well made and perfectly runny.
The signature coffee had nothing significant to mention, it was ok. With the slow service and the burnt toast experience, I may not visit Sandy's for sometime, yet might brave for a proper meal sometime sooner, maybe in my next visit.
We went few years back and ambience has changed drastically . Now it has quite a simple ambience with good size place. Options of dessert was not much . Tried onion ring and aussies latte . Found it to be average . For the ambience and coffee , 250 rs din justifies . Options of food was decent . We majorly went for dessert and coffee and ended up cancelling the dessert .
Have been here multiple times before and one of the spots for me to stop for a dessert post dinner some where else as well..
The best chocolate pastries in town.. Try their That Really Tiny Chocolate Cake V2.0 at least once.. This is the best.. What a portion, feeling satisfied, love for chocolate..!! Awesome..!!
Their food taste is also great but portion size could be improved and felt the pricing was on the higher end..!!
Parking is usually a challenge here in this road..!!
This is the worst food I’ve ever had. I ordered the chicken wings, but they tasted like frozen, reheated food. The Yellow Thai Curry was terrible—it tasted more like a bad chicken kurma than a Thai curry. The sauce served with the grilled fish was also awful. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Kick starting my reviews after a long covid Hiatus!
Visited this place around 7 pm on a week day and found it less crowded, its my first visit to this place. First impression was, felt like an extended bakery with moderate number of tables. The pastries, mousses and desserts in the display were awesomee.
We ordered:
Dumpling chicken italian soup - not so great, soup was sour, watery with tiny pieces of dumpling
Chilly wiings - this was decent, but the wings were very small
Prawn pepprcino - thought it was spicy when ordered, but was deceived. It was 10 tiny pieces of prawns with olive oil and kind of a sour sauce. Didnt like it, very costly 400 bucks for such tiny portion
Chicken pasta arabiata - i liked the smoky flavour, but it was priced @ 495. Come on folks -500 bucks for a pasta, nope not worth it!
3 cheese ravioli with pink sauce - this was the only main food that I liked
Cold coffee - this was damn good, relished it, but once again quantity was very less for 280 bucks
Finally the best one, cheese cake - was the best cheese cake in town, had a divine feel on taking the first bite!!
Finally ended paying 3k!
Service was very good.
Lesson learnt, never have your maincourse in a place specialized in desserts, unless you are left with no options!!
Sandy's have always been upto the mark with taste!! And they never disappoint... The pastries were fresh and tasty... The hot chocolate was thick and creamy and not overly sweet, the way it's meant to be... The only thing I would suggest is if the ambiance of the restaurant could be improved!!! It looks way too plain and in no way looks lik a restaurant!! Other than that the experience was amazing!!
Triple chocolate brownie - 220/-
Sandy's indulgent hot chocolate - 250/-
The food is pretty decent. The farm fresh breakfast is quite filling. However the baked beans can be much better. It tastes like canned food. The egg options are good and tasty. The spinach and mushrooms on the side are also nice. Amul butter is given along with the bread.
The watermelon juice is given in a cute laboratory bottle. Tastes fresh.
The Tuscan veg burger is big and served on a wooden board along with coleslaw and fries.
Both veg and non veg options are available. Soy and almond milk is also available.
Looking for a proper English breakfast went to this place. Has many branches in Nungambakkam, Kodambakkam, teynampet etc. Location easy to access, ambiance was okay. Food was tasty and worth it. Ofcourse very little spices just as any English breakfast would taste. The best part of the breakfast was the cheese omlette. So fluffy, filling and tasty. Not to forget the hot chocolate was the best i had so far. 3 cheese sandwich was good with just cheese taste in it but the masala fries was too good. The grilled chicken with baby potatoes and mushroom sauce was fabulous and a must try. Overall a good place for brunch and English food. They have juices and pastries as well. Ambiance wasn't that attracting. Staff was courteous, food was tasty. Place had a parking for like 4 to 5 cars. All Payment modes available like card, cash and gpay. Only drawback was the AC. Seems like they had a repair work going on which was tough to manage during this summer. Otherwise a great outing experience at Sandy's choclate laboratory.
With a calming ambience and cheesy food, my lunch @sandyschocolatelab was sorted.☺️☺️
The crispy jalapeno and cheese ravioli was damn crispy and super cheesy and I loved the chutney that complimented so well along with it.🥰🥰
My go to Pasta would always be Penne anyday and this definitely did not disappoint me.🤗
The only thing I feel is the quantity could've been better for the price they charge 🙃
Oh, and I fell in love with the desserts😍
Both the Nutella Tiramisu and the Big Philly Cheesecake were so goood.
The cheesecakes were one of the best I've had🤤🤤
The only suggestion in the tiramisu is that a little too much of nutella 🙈 it's of course a nice thing but the Nutella overpowered the cocoa flavour konjam jaasthiya😐
Have been wanting to try Sandy's for quite a long time and finally got to try their Fish and chips and BBQ Wings.
The portion to price ratio in a cafe set up was really good.
Couldn't take any pictures of the chicken wings, but it was amazing. The quantity and the taste was mind blowing. Loved every piece of it. And the wings were chunky and juicy unlike extremely small ones a lot of places serve. Just didn't like the garlic dip served with the wings, it just don't go well.
Now coming to the fish and chips, it was good and the fish was really fresh, it's just that it could've been seasoned a bit more. The dip served was perfect and I loved it with the wings too.
Overall it was great food and worth a visit.
A place for true indulgence of chocolatey treats, desserts and delicacies everything I tried was exceptional with their Big Philly Cheesecake standing out as one of the finest cheesecake I have ever tried, Sandy's Signature Milkshake was so thick and rich, while the Alfredo Pasta provided a pure satisfaction must try, Sandy's chocolate laboratory With it's minimum aesthetics and comfortable seatings definitely makes it worth while visiting.

Good ambience in a great part of town. Good food, but nothing to write home about. Certainly a little on the pricier end of the spectrum.
Good for a weekend breakfast.
The ambience is so dead and bad like some concrete office. Considering the prices the ambience should definitely be better than this. The food was average at best only the dessert was decent.
I have been a die hard fan for their desserts for around a decade. After a long gap I wanted to check out with friends. We tried the signature TINY,all time favorite brownie shocker and few other items. The taste is not the same now and the cafe itself feels dated when you compare with the present scenario in chennai.
Will I go back again ? May be just for the TINY
I had so much of an expectation since I have heard about them but felt quite not satisfied with the visit I had today. I ordered Chicken Lasagna which I was drooling until it was finished and also tried The Mushroom Beef Brocolli Salad which was very filling. The taste of the food was very good but the Cafe was very simple and minimalistic which didn't work out well with me but the food experience was really a great one.
Sandy's ... One of the favourite spots in recent times. The ambiance is quite pleasingly decent. Not much crowded. They have the best way to serve the continental food. Food is decent. The BELT sandwich is great, it's served on the wooden plate along with coleslaw and the crispy fries which has a never ending flavour added to it. The portion of egg in the sandwich is good, but the Bacon is amazingly good. I would recommend the Burger and sandwich over the main course. Wasn't completely satisfied with pasta as I felt over the sandwich. It was OKish. Have to improvise the customer service. At first I was given an already opened ketchup sachet which will make most people be extremely angry and is an annoying gesture. But it's ok, it's a simple mistake and they immediately took care of it.
Pricing is on the Slightly Heavier side.
Overall it's a good place to hangout and chill and spend as long as you can with some best continental food around.
A friend suggested this cozy, popular spot for coffee. Lots of young people make it a buzzy spot — we had sandwiches, coffee and a milkshake. All of good quality.
The ambience is neat and the place is well maintained.
Prices were on little higher side
A wel-kncwn. small and simple place that's serves
yummy food!
We Felt that the coffee and French fries were a bit pricy for the amount they serve.
The chicken roulade is favcurite though the presentation could'vebeen neater.
Spaghetti was gocd and the beef was it's perfect match!
Would love to visit this place again to
try their variety cf pastries. -at Sandy's
One of the best places I would visit anytime of the day and would highly recommend them for their amazing dishes and the Hot chocolate. You might feel the place to be pricey but trust me it is worth the money you pay. Definitely a perfect place to hangout with your gang.
I visited the place on a Sunday evening. Located in the heart of the city in nungambakkam, it was moderately crowded. The menu offers an array of chocolate combinations, cakes being the best. Good place for a chocolate lover and for anyone craving a sweet tooth this is a good option, ice creams are worth the try.
Service - 4/5
Ambience - 3/5
Food - 3/5
Overall experience - 3/5
The chicken lasagna was very dry, with no sauce left inside it there was only the chicken stuffing inside.
It's a pretty decent place with a Laboratory themed menu...They have amazing range of desserts and pastries . It's expensive but worth it for many dishes and "OMG" is my favorite here ,around 5 to 8 members can share this dish . Thier breakfast menu is really good (becons are served crispy ).
A very plainly decorated building- clean and white and plain, to replicate a lab setup. Beakers are used to serve food.
Restaurant specializes in desserts.
Mind blowing range of desserts are available here.
Must have Nutella Bar, Cheese Cake and Milk Chocolate milk shake.
Shakes and ice creams are served in beakers.
Staff and service is good. Best known for desserts.
Starters and main course items also available.
