I went to this coffee place to work and had a mixed experience. The space is cozy in theory, but the ceiling is quite low and the lighting is rather dark, which made the atmosphere feel a bit heavy and not very comfortable for long work sessions.
The coffee itself was good and well made, but I personally found it a bit distracting and not ideal for focusing. I actually preferred my experience at their Brooklyn location. The staff here felt rather cold and not very welcoming, which didn’t help with the overall vibe.
I think this spot works better for grabbing a coffee with a friend rather than spending a few hours working. Overall, an okay experience, but not the most comfortable or inviting place for productivity.
Nice coffee, quick & friendly service, relaxing atmosphere, free wifi, all customers were working on laptops.
Furniture is comfortable however after sitting on a fabric armchair for the duration of drinking an iced coffee I started to feel itchy & was bitten on my arm, by what I don't know, put all my clothes in the wash when I got home.
Back room needs a deep clean & all furniture replacing with cleanable seating. The big sofa has cracked pleather & splash marks up the side, it's not quirky it's gross & needs throwing in a skip.
Coffee is great!!! Strong and delicious. Place is interesting because it has random decoration and chairs. Books available to borrow while in the store. I had a corn muffin and was a little dry. Staff is friendly. You can stay here for hours reading or working.
The coffee is pretty good. The staff is super friendly and sweet, which makes it a nice place to stay if you're already nearby. However, I wouldn't specifically recommend going there just for coffee - Starbucks is much closer and offers better drinks.
The vibe here is pretty loud, but it's cool because I've seen people working and still enjoying themselves. I'm not a huge fan myself, though of this type of vibe.
Cool little place in nyc with good coffee. I usually grab an oat milk latte on the go. They also have very nice gluten free pastries.
It has a great atmosphere with good music. You can seat to work as it has free wifi and space to be on your laptop. It’s also nice to seat on the couches for a coffee with friends.
Baristas are very nice and provide good fast service!
Good coffee shop! Reasonable pricing. Nice ambience. Music isn’t too loud. Matcha latte is tasty. Has wifi too
There is Wi-Fi available, but it doesn't seem to be working. Am I the only one having trouble connecting?
Also, there is a heat advisory in effect, but the air conditioning doesn't seem to be on, and there is an unpleasant smell in the store. It seemed that the air conditioning was only running in the staff area, not in the customer seating area.
The atmosphere of this place is great--there's tons of seating options, some pretty decent looking food, and welcoming and friendly staff. There's a restroom (customers only) and free wifi, so you can feel free to come here to do work. The music was a little too loud to hold a conversation (and if you're here to do work I'd bring headphones) but overall it was a cozy coffee shop. The coffee itself is good but not great, and the prices are on the high end (even for NYC) so it comes out to a 4/5.
What I like the most about this coffeeshop (Ground Central coffee) is their lounge / couches area. It’s nice for meetings of just to chill with coffee and friends . Others are just working with their laptops.
They have gluten free pastries and milk alternative for coffees (I got my oat milk latte). The coffee grind they use is not my favorite but it’s not bad at all so I don’t mind it much. They also have some bottled cold press juices (rockin beet is my favorite).
Five stars all around.
Drink: I had the nitro cold brew and it is super smooth and mellow. It is very enjoyable and doesn’t need any milk. My boyfriend got a matcha latte and it was pretty standard, foamy, and met expectations.
We also tried the vegan gluten free tahini chocolate chunk cookie and it was phenomenal. It was the most pleasing, chewy texture with salt to balance out the sweetness from the chocolate. Chocolate chunks are arguably greater than chips. They made a significant impact with this cookie.
Lastly atmosphere = awesome! The music is vibey and boppy. We came on a Saturday around noon. It is definitely a working spot but caveating it is a bit loud (in a good way) with the music so it may be not as easy to take conference calls. Definitely recommend stopping in here.
I like their coffee and the banana bread. Loved the cozy vibe the most. Nice to bring your laptop and work or chitchat with friends :)
Friendly staff.. Quick Service.. Amazing Coffee.. Beautiful theme.. hard to find seats - wifi available with no internet access :(
Amazingly such good-hearted people are working there! We are definitely coming back!
Best coffee in mid-town with warm welcome messages, cossy tables and vibrant customers working there all day
Hidden gem! Nice seating area, beautiful music, perfect for studying/working/connecting. loved the vibes and the nice girls at the counter 💞
Nice Carrot Muffin (vegan), coffee and Hibiscus Lemonade were tasty and not too sweet. Generally a nice cafe with cozy lounge area at the back. Negative points: music was far too loud, so you could barely talk to each other, wifi not working (but there is access to the Link NYC Free wifi), and close to the AC, where the big table is, it is pretty cold.
Love the vibe of this place ! laptop friendly. I wish they had unsweetened nut milk alternatives! Hopefully one day soon
Good coffee, amazing banana bread, unfortunately really bad wifi :/
For a cafe with wifi it’s unacceptable to not have wifi good enough to open anything.
LOVE the coffee here; I'm a regular! Kudos for awesome playlists, great space options to chill quietly in the back, people watching on 8th Ave by the window, and a long shared table for some laptop work. There are also books you can borrow and read! An extensive list of alternative milk options (you gotta try the macadamia latte! 🤤). Staff is usually lovely, but there's been instances of a bit of an attitude across the board. All-in-all, I recommend grabbing a coffee to go, sit in, or have a snack (lots of pastry/bakery goodness options!)
I’ve been here several times to work because it’s a place I can actually get comfortable for that – like the chairs aren’t at a weird height relative to the tables, etc. It’s *always* crowded with people parking for a long while, so sometimes I have to wait or shuffle around as better seats become available.
The problem here is the staff. Some are perfectly friendly, but so many others seem like they’re disgusted to have to speak with you at all. It can feel like a hostile environment.
When over the especially loud music one day I didn’t hear them call my name when my espresso was ready, the barista acted annoyed when I asked about my drink. “I CALLED your name.” She remade the espresso but with a side of annoyance, thanks.
I actually asked if they might turn the music down just a bit, and I was told no because the music was important for atmosphere. Um, I get that, but on aggressive hip-hop day we don’t also need extra volume. I usually like the music here, but if it’s too loud it’s hard to focus or have a quiet conversation.
By the way, the wifi never works. Expect to use your hotspot if needed.
This place might be okay for a catch up with a friend or read (has a very cozy vibe), but if you’re looking for a place to work remotely, I wouldn’t recommend. The internet is very spotty and weak. That being said, you’ll still see a good number of people working on their laptops. The coffee and food are decent, and the prices are what you’d expect for the area.
The feel of the space is cool. A well-worn broken in space. Lots of seats and electric outlets. The music is too loud.
The coffee is slightly above average—solid B+. The food is grossly overpriced.
Couldn’t connect to the internet. When I asked staff just pointed at the sign that listed the name of the wifi network. When I said it wasn’t working, they just pointed at the sign again.
If you are in the are and just need coffee or a place to chat—check it out.
Don’t plan to do work here. And don’t pay 5 dollars more for a sandwich you can get elsewhere
Cool place and many seats to sit for working or chatting
TL;DR good place to talk and drink, bad place to work
The coffee here is very good and worth the price. It’s about $6-$8 per coffee, so it’s a little pricy but worth it. However, the wifi here does not work and the baristas will not provide any other alternative network for you to use, which is counterproductive to your efficiency if you’re coming here to do work. Also, the music is just too loud. I could barely hear myself speak or think.
If you are working around the area this coffee hub is a MUST!
It's brand new! Only been open a month, It deserves every star you see!
It's so rare to find a nice cafe with friendly staff in midtown. My wife & I are here most days! I wouldn't normally write a review because it's the type of place you don't want people to know about.
Get the passion fruit donut.
I LOVE this place and am so happy I stumbled upon it. I never before had been to a coffee shop that offered not only wifi but also books for you to sit and enjoy. We stayed out of the rain and I started reading some of Becoming Michelle Obama. I wish more shops were like this one.
Great coffee (quality every time) as well as teas, staff is always friendly with a human touch that is rare for that area of Midtown Manhattan. Layout is cool with comfy vintage-esque couch and chairs in the back, nice for working solo or rendezvousing.
laptop friendly and with free wifi. Vibe is nice. No healthy food unfortunately. When I passed by sandwiches from the fridge were gone and they didn't make them either though the menu had them.
Wow packed with people working on their laptop and bunch of nearby workers waiting on their drinks and a few tourist.
I ordered a latte and I would want one more if I don't limit myself to one a day. The drink is masterfully crafted. Finding a seat isn't a problem for one or two people but I wouldn't suggest for bigger groups.
Was hoping good wifi connection to work in, but found it very slow and the power outlet was so loose that the charger can’t even stay plugged. This place is loud even I got the seat at the window front. The matcha latte is okay, nothing special, staffs are friendly. I’ll say this is more of a place to hangout and chat, won’t come here to work again.
Great neighborhood coffee shop with a nice selection of pastries as well as food items. There is a decent amount of seating for working comfortably in addition to more lounge-like seating in the back for meeting up with friends, or reading a book.
I really love this coffee shop. Super cozy and great atmosphere. But they HAVE to fix their wifi issues. Other than that - will always come back!
Great chai latte, comfy chairs and couches in the back, cheerful music. Very social place. wifi fine for video calls, but not a quiet ambiance for work.
I saw that this cafe provides comfortable work tables but unfortunately, their wifi service was horrible. I had to move to another cafe: Starbucks. :(
Advice: fix your wifi issue right away.
Latte was just ok - acceptable. I needed some place to take a few calls on a Thurs between 10 am and 12pm. It was really loud when I got there at 10am and was about to leave but decided to stay. Maybe I just got used to it or they did indeed turn it down because I was able to conduct (and hear) my calls. There is no wifi. I used my hotspot. I initially came here because the Starbucks across the street did not have any available seating.
Great place to work from on your laptop! They have a wide variety of seating and power outlets all around. The coffee, of course, is excellent too.
Do not recommend coming here to get work done. The wifi is very bad. Also, the baristas seemed nice to other people just not to me when I was asking about the wifi. I guess it’s a touchy subject.
Good amount of seating with a mix of high chairs and tables, as well as comfy chairs. Really nice vibe here and great place to get work done as they have good wifi
The wifi is not working, the staff is quite rude, nightclub music blasting at the background. Definitely not a good place if you wanna sit down and get some work done.
Coffee here is great, and staff are always super friendly. They have power ports and wifi. Stop here whenever I need to get picked up for work
Cool spot with a nice seating area in the back. wifi here wasn’t good, but there were lots of soft seats and pillows.
Phenomenal chai and napoleon pastry! Two happy hard working people serve you. We will definitely be back.
Great people working here. Great coffee, great pastries. Went 3 mornings while in the city.
My mistake for trying to get work done in a midtown coffee shop- wifi refused to connect and it was so overcrowded I spilled my coffee twice just trying to walk across the threshold. Americano meh, left after 5 min
Great vibe, nice place to do work with a good amount of table space and counters. Free wifi post right outside, too.
A good place to sit and get some work done. wifi, power outlets, lots of seating. Not too busy on a weekday afternoon.
Horrible place for working. Loud heavy metal music playing over the speakers is extremely disruptive and uncomfortable.
What I like is the good coffee and the wifi. What I dislike is the music which is too loud and which makes the whole thing not very enjoyable.
Great place for a coffee and do a little work. Good wifi and lots of places to sit
