Good coffee, good vibes! They didn't have oat milk (my go-to) that afternoon so I got my latte with soy instead. It tasted good - the espresso seemed like a medium roast. The staff was very friendly, especially the barista - always greets you with a smile :)
They have free wifi, a restroom and limited seating inside with a few chairs outside. Would recommend!
Great little coffee shop - not loads of seating but great to work for a few hours (free wifi). Nice coffee and other drinks and snacks. Lovely collection of merch too, including their own coffee bits, stickers, t shirts etc. Staff seem a nice bunch.
my go-to cafe for work in wsp 〰️ although they have limited seats, i am always lucky enough to secure a seat every visit. stumptown is one of the best coffee in nyc. i tried oat latte and cold brew w oat. i honestly like latte better, cold brew is somewhat too fruity for my taste. they do not charge extra for plant milk.
another perfect cafe for work: free wifi, clean restroom, great variety of pastry, anddd best coffee!
Super cute spot! They have a decent amount of seating for a NY coffee shop. I haven't done laptop work there personally, but the tables are slightly small (perfect for just a laptop.) Others were doing work there so I'm assuming it's laptop friendly! I got a cold brew with oat milk & it was really good. A slight chocolate flavor and sweet. I also love that they have compostable straws!
The coffee is amazing, nothing but respect here, but the location is so busy. Although it's a roomy shop, the seating is very limited. If you wanna chill or work with your laptop, this is not the place but if you want to just have a good cup of coffee, this is definitely THE place!
Good coffee, good people, great place to work if you want to get your laptop. The service staff is good. Its close to Washington square park.
I have come here dozens of times in the last 4 years and have run into celebrities, cuties, homies and NYU studie...ents.
I adore the vibe -- open, high ceilings, industrial chic greys and browns, a lot of light, and strong a$$ wifi.
The coffee is reliably good and the staff is cool, accommodating and kind. Shout out to them effortlessly re-doing orders if there has been a mistake.
My two improvements would be to add better pastries and snacks since they fall flat compared to the great coffee, and add a few more seats since those can be hard to come by.
Otherwise, I love this place.
I try hot chai latte and it’s so good, they have comfortable place to have a talks or quick work with laptop.
The employees working in the afternoon (2pm) on Saturday November 22nd were extremely rude. When we had questions on the holiday menu, instead of kindly helping us, they were smirking, impatient, and rolling their eyes. I never leave Google reviews, but that behavior was unacceptable, so I wanted to share my experience.
Americano over ice messed up the order twice had an attitude when fixing it. I don’t know who this new staff is but all that giggling and wandering about over-the-counter and having an attitude asking for orders shouldn’t be working there
there are people out here in New York City that really need work and will do way better job with Hospitality, skills, and being of service.
They gotta go !
Very solid coffee and dope that they don’t charge extra for oat milk. wifi was a little weak though had to use my hotspot
Love this spot. It was an instant good omen when they were playing the entire Thank U, Next album as I walked in (not kidding). The wifi was great, a good amount of seating where you shouldn't have to wait long to get a spot, indoor and outdoor, with standing space at the bar to work at. Finally, the original cold brew was fantastic, best I've had so far in NYC. A great area too.
It is definitely my favourite coffee shop in Manhattan. Great quality, reasonable prices and fantastic staff. Add to it the amazing neighborhood of Washington Square Park and free wifi and you have a dream place for coffee lovers.
The vibe was nice-ish, the line was quick, and the staff was friendly. But my coffee smelt exactly like fish. The barista had filled half my cup with the very little remains of one pot, and then fill the rest of the cup with another pot of coffee. I don't know if that was why, but it was horrible. Also, the atmosphere at the coffee shop was more comfortable for a person coming to do quiet work, on a laptop, book, something of that sort. It isn't really somewhere you go to have a conversation with a friend for a long time. I felt like I was disturbing the people around me. I don't know if I'd ever go again, but if I did, it would have to be after I've forgotten about that nasty fish tasting coffee.
Coffee to rival the likes of some of the best baristas in Sydney! Stumptown lives up to its hype. I’m usually a fan of single shot coffee but they manage to pull off a double shot latte perfectly. Small spaces to sit opposite the barista and often taken by folks working on laptops but if you manage to nab a spot, definitely go here for coffee.
Great coffee and iced tea, delicious assortment of pastries from local bakeries. Good for working (has wifi), but plan to get here early or hover for a bit if you want a seat.
Good place to bring your laptop and work!
Absolutely peaceful with really affordable 2 dollar cups of coffee!
Fast and Free wifi and comfy seats, what more could an entrepreneur and a student ask for!
Revered coffee shop with dark wood hipster vibes and excellent albeit expensive coffee and snacks. Friendly staff and good wifi. Not a huge amount of space to sit because it's full of people with laptops.
Favorite coffee joint in the village. wifi doesn't always work, but the drinks are quality and the clientele is often less obnoxious than other NYU spots despite the hipster vibe.
I'm not one to write reviews about companies unless I have extraordinarily good service, or in this case, extraordinarily bad service.
If you've lived/been in NYC for even a day you know this is a city of endless movement, people constantly on the go -- taking advantage of every minute -- the constant mentality of "how can I knock off two birds with one stone" type thinking. So, this afternoon, when I walked into Stumptown Coffee off W 8th, that's exactly where my mind was at. Yoga bag on one arm, laptop and work papers on the other. With only a half an hour to complete an hour plus worth of work I sat down, threw up my laptop and quickly rushed over to the counter to order my coffee. Per usual, you order your coffee first then get the password to the wifi -- this wasn't my first time at Stumptown, I knew the drill.
However, this time was different. I grabbed my coffee rushed back to my computer only to realize the internet wasn't working. Okay, plan of action -- reset my computer, maybe it was on my end? Nope. Same issue. Look to the guy next to me -- dealing with the same thing. So, I get up walk to the front and ask one of the baristas if he could help me. "Sorry, for some reason your internet doesn't seem to be working. I've tried restarting my computer but it is not helping. The guy next to me is experiencing the same thing." Response: "Okay, we'll restart our router, happens often."
Awesome. Go sit down and wait .... and wait ... and wait. Clock ticking down and deadline for when I need to be out the door running to my meeting is winding down. Fifteen minutes pass and you can start to see everyone in there, many of the customers college students, looking at each other. So, again I get up and walk to the front to talk to the same guy. "Hi sir, sorry but for some reason it is still not working. Were you able to restart the router?"
It wasn't just his response that threw me off guard but his tone and complete disregard for the strength and power of customer service. "No, sorry, guess not. I think someone went back to check on it but I'm not sure. Either way, this is a luxury not a required service we provide so I guess you're just going to have to deal with or go somewhere else."
I was stunned -- was that response needed? I'm a customer sharing with you that a service you normally provide, luxury or not, was not working properly. You REQUIRE customers to purchase coffee and/or food to receive this "luxury service" (unlike competing coffee companies like Starbucks) -- did you really just encourage me to take my business somewhere else just because you didn't want to go five seconds out of your way to see if something was or was not working properly?
I didn't say a word - grabbed my stuff, packed up and walked out, leaving my coffee on the table. There is no worse feeling than the feeling that your money was spent on an undeserving and unappreciative individual or business. Regardless of the amount spent it still feels like you were robbed and taken advantage of.
So, moving forward, I will do exactly what the employee suggested I do, take my business some where else. Hopefully, after a handful of loyal long standing customers such as myself do so they'll realize that you can't treat your customers like nobodies -- and that 80% of business is repeat business. Stumptown Coffee, you've lost my business and my respect. Hope you clean up your act before your once crowded coffee shop turns into a ghost town due to disrespectful employees and unappreciative company culture.
Great place! The people working here are very nice and the food is excellent! And to top that, everything is so pretty! I almost did not want to drink my coco because it looked so nice!
Great place to work: AC, free open wifi, decent coffee. I sat there for 5 hours straight. The downside: no bathroom ... darks
Coffee: Yes
Food: pastries
wifi: N/A
Parking: N/A
Coffee is flawless here. They’ve different branches & I visited some of them, the quality is sustainable.
Reasonable coffee, cool brick building, good location, super slow wifi (like 2005 speeds, 2mbps download, 2mbps upload), usually crowded and hard to find a seat.
Great place and quality. Super suitable for studying or working. Please bear in mind that all tables are usually taken inside. There is space available outside though!
wifi, great coffee, awesome atmosphere, classy home-library-esque decor. Staff is friendly. Cost is very fair.
Espresso is extremely consistent here. Unfortunately, the laptop folk have taken over the tables and rare is a time when seats are available.
Chill and beautiful environment as well as excellent coffee. Perfect place for working or hanging out.
Great vibe, friendly staff, free wifi and such good coffee!
Cozy place for working and chilling!!!
Great coffee and wifi.
